Christmas Eve
Colby's POV
—————————————————

It's been a little over a month. It's still rough waking up to an empty side of the bed.

And not grabbing a baby to change.

But we're okay- well, the best we can be.

It's Christmas Eve now, and snowing like crazy.

This little house is amazing. We all love it.

Everything comes together so nicely, and the two urns sitting on the fireplace mantle bring it all back to the beginning, but in a good way.

I swear Ill stare at them for what feels like hours on a daily.

My wife and daughter are in those.

But for it being our first Christmas without Y/n, the kids seem to be doing okay.

Or they act like it at least.

The Christmas tree sits with bunches of wrapped presents underneath it, Diesel and Chance laying down beside it as well.

"Dad, the glee club is putting on a show at the park for the Christmas lights party" Ryker said as he came into the kitchen.

"And I was thinking, we could all go see the lights before we did our show tonight" he said and leaned against the counter.

"Okay, what time?" I asked.

"It starts at 8 but we need to be there a little earlier to warm up" he said.

"We'll leave in the next 30, how about you go tell your brother and sisters to get warm clothes on since we're gonna be out for a little bit" I said and he nodded before running back down the hall.

They enjoyed being in glee club, it made them happy. And that makes me happy.

I went to the pantry and filled the dogs' bowls with food, also filling Tigger's with his food.

"Diesel, Chance, Tigger" I called and they came over, Tigger jumping on the counter.

I laughed and pet his head as he ate.

We had to feed him on the counter or else the dogs would try to take his food.

Once I noticed Chance was done eating, I grabbed his meds and put one of the pills in a spoon of peanut butter before feeding it to him.

He was diagnosed with cancer a week after Ellie passed.

It kinda felt like life was being taken from us. But he's been doing good. There's no word on if the meds are working yet but at least he's taking them.

"Alright boys, outside" I said and let them out the back door.

I shivered and shut the door before walking down the hall to my room.

I layered up and put my snow boots on, grabbing my jacket.

As I walked down the hall, the door opened.

"Uncle Colby!" Gracyn said as she, Ollie, Benson, Sam and Kat walked in.

"Hey guys!- Katrina?!" I yelled.

I hugged the kids and Sam before looking at her.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I asked.

"Sam and I wanted to give it another shot, a shot to bring our family back together" she said.

I engulfed her in a hug and kissed her cheek.

"This is wild to me. Hey guys! Come down here!" I called.
