Chapter 70

We walked back over to the podium and Alex handed Luxe to me.

"This year was tough. School, work, home life... it sucked. But I was blessed to wake up and live with my own family. I fell more in love with my bestfriend and I got to love my son every second of every day" Duke said, putting his arm around me and smiling before looking back.

"Senior year" he sighed.

"The year where everyone freaks out over college letters, finally has enough saved to move out and leave the nest to live their life on their own. That's what I thought I could've had when I was 12. But after my accident, I lost everything. I lost my only family and lost my place. But Madison's family- my family stepped in. Basically, keep hope alive within yourself. You may change your mind for your future and that's okay. In my opinion, whatever you choose to do after you graduate high school, is completely up to you" he said.

He walked over to Alex and put his hand on his shoulder.

"That's why, I need to let my best friend know that he is taking my slot in Adelphi University in New York City for the first semester this year!" He exclaimed.

Alex's face burst into excitement and he jumped up and down, hugging Duke.

The whole crowd of families and students clapped and cheered for the exciting news.

I knew Duke had talked to his recruiter in New York about dropping his slot and he was lucky enough to have gotten to choose someone to play for the college that was really good.

"Oh and last but not least, everyone have a good rest of your day and go celebrate tonight everybody!" Duke yelled.

"Whoo!" I yelled.

The families of the graduates jumped on stage and I saw dad running with the triplets and Gunnar.

"Come on" I squealed and waved them up.

Sam and Kat had came as well to see the graduation so they came on stage too.

Ryker hugged Duke and we all got pulled into a big group hug with our friends and families.

"I present the graduates of 2040!" All of the principals yelled.

We all planned on partying hard tonight so dad kept Luxe for us so we could hang out with our friends.

The group consisted of me, Duke, Ryker, Haley, Josh, Megan, Alex, Dave, and a couple of other seniors on our soccer team.

We were all at Josh's house, and were all a bit drunk.

"Hey guys, y'all wanna smoke?" Josh asked, holding up a newly rolled joint.

"Hell yeah, I could take some of that" Alex jumped up.

"Do you want to? If not, don't let them pressure you into it" Duke whispered.

"Yeah I will, I just need to check with the boys" I motioned towards Ryker and Dave.

"I'm probably responsible for you both tonight so if you guys want, that's fine but I don't want you guys to feel peer pressure if not" I said.

"I think ill pass" Dave said.

"Yeah me too" Haley agreed as she was sitting next to Ryker.

I looked at him and he shrugged.

"If you want to, let me know" I said and he nodded.

I ruffled his hair and gave his shoulder a pat.

"Come outside with us though" I said.
