Narrator's POV
Camila was bored in her room after lunch, so she got out for a walk. She had not seen the whole place, but she admired the exquisiteness of the house. It was not a medium size house nor a huge mansion. She was stunned by how the exquisiteness was maintained throughout the whole house, at least parts she had seen: the breakfast room, the dining room, the living room, her bedroom, the garden, and the surroundings. She believed the rest of the house was also well-maintained.
Dinah had left. She told Camila she would return in the evening to have dinner with her. She left after arranging a video call for Camila and her mother. The house was silent. Nobody was around. She left her room and passed the hallway. She went outside the house when she saw a door. She enjoyed the garden and the surroundings. She walked and admired the garden, nature, and the fresh air even though it was in the afternoon.
Camila stopped at the fence full of lavender. She stopped to admire the flowers and saw Lauren when she looked farther over the fence. Lauren was lying on the couch with her eyes closed on the balcony. Some papers were on her lap. Camila looked at Lauren, who seemed to fall asleep, enjoying her afternoon nap. Lauren was wearing all white, which was not the usual color that Camila knew. Her unbuttoned shirt showed some bandaged parts of her body.
Camila would like to look closer, so she walked past the fence. She was so focused on not waking Lauren up that she did not mind her step and tripped over a stone, making a sound that woke Lauren up. "..." Camila bit her lip and looked in the direction where Lauren was. Their eyes slightly met before Lauren stood up and walked inside the house, ignoring Camila, who was still on the ground.
It was obvious that Lauren saw her, but she ignored Camila. It made Camila overthink. She was lost in her thoughts, sitting on the ground until Anna showed up. "Ms, are you alright?" She helped Camila up.
"Yes, thanks!" Camila got rid of the dirt. "Call me Camila, please!"
"Alright! Camila, is there anything I can help you with?" Anna asked.
"No. I... I'm just bored and walking around the garden," Camila said as she looked at the balcony where the door had shut.
"I have an idea. How about we watch a movie?" Anna suggested. "We also have books if you want to read, or do you want to swim?"
Camila was a little taken aback. Anna suggested the things she love doing. "A movie sounds good..." She did not have her phone or her books to kill the time. She was too lazy to swim in the afternoon. She did not think she wanted to read as her mind could not focus after Lauren ignored her. So, she chose a movie.
"Let's go!" Anna asked. They walked back into the house.
Anna guided Camila through the garden back inside the house. They went to one of the living rooms of the house to watch a movie. Anna wanted to leave Camila alone, but Camila asked her to stay and accompany her. They watched a movie together. Camila was watching the movie but she would think of Lauren.
.
During the dinner time, Camila was more relaxed than this morning. She sat closer to Dinah. She was slowly adjusting herself to have nonhuman being friends. Although she was no longer feeling awkward with Dinah, she did not enjoy her dinner much. She ate too slowly.
"Mila, do you want to eat something else?" Dinah asked when she saw Camila was taking too much time to bring the food to her mouth.
"No, I'm just not that hungry," Camila said.
