Narrator's POV
Saturday evening, Camila and Lucy were heading to the venue where the last party for this summer happened. Lucy, who loved parties, was not going to miss it. She also convinced Camila to join the party. Camila, who was not a big fan of a big party like this, agreed to come with Lucy, thinking it would be the last summer party as a college student. Next year, she and Lucy were no longer students.
Arriving at the party, Camila could tell this big party was not only for their college students as she recognized others, too. Lucy had reminded her earlier, on the way to this party, that for a big party like this, it was inevitable that others who were not the students could join. Students could bring their friends with reservations in advance. Some even would try to sneak in their friends or strangers on the spot.
It crossed Camila's mind if Lauren would be at this party, considering Alexa would not miss the party just like Lucy. Camila did not ask Lucy about it because she did not want to ruin the night by mentioning her new friend's friend. If Lauren was at this party, she just needed to avoid her. Alexa would also be here. Lauren would think twice, coming closer to Camila. So, she thought everything would be fine. Camila brushed it off so that she could enjoy the party.
Lucy told Camila that she would do her best to stay sober and that she would not forget about Camila. Camila laughed at Lucy and told Lucy not to worry about her and enjoy the party. Camila could take care of herself better since she had been back, training her Krav Maga for a while now. Lucy surely knew Camila could take care of herself. Camila did not drink much. She knew when to stop. Camila knew how to fight more than most people. Lucy was not worried about boys bothering Camila. She was worried: if they were not human beings. However, it was fortunately not a full moon night. So, it should be safer than that night.
Less than twenty minutes at the party, Camila met her acquaintance.
"Hi, Camila!" A guy called Camila.
"Oh, Hi, Liam?" Camila did not expect to see the guy who had a crush on her at her mother's cafe at this party.
"I didn't expect to see you here." Liam, who was a bit older than the last year's college students, said.
"Me, too." Camila knew Liam was not their college student.
"Are you here with your boyfriend?" He asked, looking at Camila in the eyes.
"No, I am with my friend, Lucy!" She looked in the direction where Lucy disappeared, to get drinks for them.
"Oh, nice! Do you want to dance?" He asked Camila.
"Hmm..." Camila hesitated.
"Come on! We are here to enjoy the party, right!" Liam asked again.
"Okay!" Camila agreed. She followed Liam to the dance floor.
Her summer did not go as she had imagined. Her summer date with Timothée was out of the window in the mid-summer. In less than forty-eight hours, the last summer holiday would end. Liam was the coolest guy among those who had a crush on her during her shifts at her mother's cafe. Camila did not want to overthink. She had decided to come to the party. So, Camila would get loose and enjoy the party at its best. She danced to the music, fleeing her mind from all the unnecessary thoughts.
Lucy saw Camila on the dance floor. She joined her and said, "He's cute." Among many beings at this party, Lucy was glad that Liam the first person to hit on Camila was a human being.
