Narrator's POV
Camila woke up, feeling strange with the atmosphere in the prison. The weird smell she was slowly getting used to it got intense. The vibes of the prison felt heightened. She looked at those three close to her. The old woman was lying with her eyes closed, but her hands were shaking. The old man was awake. He looked less friendly than he usually did. The other one who came after her looked in pain in her sleep. Camila thought the prison would not get any stranger, but it was getting strange as she woke up a few minutes ago. It was even colder than than usual.
It got stranger when she looked at the breakfast, but not in a bad way. They got grilled chicken and bacon with some potatoes and green. They even got juice and milk, an orange, and a piece of banana cake. Camila looked at the surreal breakfast. It was too good to be true. It was the first time she received a good meal. She took her breakfast. She was confused while she looked at others who seemed to welcome their breakfast as they had been looking forward to it. It was nothing uncommon to them. She sat closer to the old woman as she had been doing during mealtime. She had not started her breakfast yet, thinking about what all of these strange things were about.
"They serve us good meals around the full moon." The old man answered Camila's confusion.
"Oh," She looked at the old man. "Why?"
"To keep everybody a bit calmer..." The old man explained. Good meals would be served two days before and one day after the full moon to keep them calmer.
"Oh..." Camila tried to connect the dots and how she felt strange with the atmosphere of the cell today.
"You can enjoy it on your spot!" The old man suggested Camila stay at her corner and watch how the cell became during the full moon. It was better to keep silent and watch as a human being. She and the man next to the old man were the only human beings in this prison.
"Okay..." Camila looked at the old woman and wondered whether she could sit closer to her for these special days. "Can I sit here?"
The old woman shook her head but she pointed a spot a bit further but still close enough to have their meal together. "Alright!"
The old man smiled, looking at their interaction
Camila usually would do some stretching to move her body do some push-ups, or sit up to prevent her body from being stiff or just to get rid of boredom. On these special days, she did what the old man told her. As suggested, Camila stayed in her corner. She only left her bed to use the toilet or have meals with the old woman. The rest of the time, she just stayed in her corner and watched. She heard and smelled something unusual, but she kept quiet and just witnessed what happened. She predicted it would get more intense by tomorrow, a day before the full moon and on the full moon day.
.
The smell of delicious food was in the air when the guards opened the door and came in with their dinner. They served enough meat to meet their hunger but not too much to strengthen them. They were kept weak. Camila waited on her bed. She would take the food once the guards left since she could have dinner with the old woman. It was the opposite from the beginning when she would take the food before they left because she was afraid that the old woman would attack her out of the blue. The thing between Camila and the old woman was different now, in a good way.
Camila frowned, becoming suspicious when the bald guard did not leave after delivering their food. He stood by the door and looked at the old woman before he walked to the side where Camila was. Camila did not have a good feeling about how he approached and looked at her. He smirked deviously as he was walking to Camila. He stopped by Camila's bedside. He touched Camila's face. Camila instantly pushed his hand away.
