Chapter 49: The Accidental Kiss

Narrator's POV

A week before the company trip, Dakota asked Camila about the cheeseburger. They left the office together on Friday late afternoon to get a cheeseburger. Sasha did not join them because her boyfriend was visiting. That was what Dakota wanted. She wanted to spend more time with Camila since they would be roommates on the company trip next week. Dakota did not have any problem with Camila as her roommate. She was the boss anyway. She was afraid that Camila was the one who would feel awkward sharing a room with her.

Nevertheless, Camila had gotten used to spending time with Dakota at work or after work. They sometimes would hang out with or without Sasha after work. Spending time over a drink or meal and sharing a room on vacation are surely two different things. Camila undoubtedly would enjoy it less than if she shared a room with others besides their big boss and other managers. Dakota told Camila that she could ask the person in charge of the event to book a connecting room so that Camila would feel more comfortable. Camila thought it was a good idea if it did not cost over budget and would not be unfair to others.

"This is the place," Camila said as they settled at the table at her favorite cheeseburger place.

"I thought it was on the street." Dakota looked around.

"I have two favorite places. This one and another one is on the street, close to the campus." Camila explained.

"Why don't we go to that one?" Dakota could enjoy street food even though it was rare.

"This one is more comfortable." Camila answered, "We can have a seat."

"Do you want to go to the other one?" Camila thought Dakota was not interested in this place.

"No, we can go to the other one later, but I want to try this one first," Dakota said.

"Okay." Camila smiled.

"What is good?" Dakota looked at the menu slightly before she put the menu aside. "You can order for me."

"Are you sure?" Camila's eyebrow raised.

"Yes. I trust you." Dakota smiled.

"Alright!" Camila made the order, and they enjoyed their burgers indoors.

Dakota was happy with the burger that Camila chose for her. She enjoyed it and wanted to try the cheeseburger in second place. They went to the second place after finishing from the first place. They went with Camila's car because Dakota's driver was away to refuel. The second place was not too far from the first one. It only took less than ten minutes to drive.

Camila and Dakota had a stroll around the city after having their second burgers at the second place. "I'm done eating burgers this summer," Dakota said as they walked along the riverside.

Camila chuckled, "Not me!" Camila loved burgers. So, she would not mind to have it again. She could eat a lot, too. So, it was not a problem for her.

"But they are so good!" Dakota appreciated it. "Thank you, Camila!"

"Don't mention it! It's nothing." Camila said. Dakota always paid for her and Sasha's meals whenever they went out for lunch and dinner, especially dinner since lunch usually was a business lunch.

"Are you excited for the trip?" Dakota asked.

"Yeah, it would be my first trip at work and with the company." Camila was excited even though she had to share a room with the least wanted roommate of the employees. Camila could not care less since she was the newest employee and it was her first time. She could accept that as they would go to the room to sleep anyway.
