Narrator's POV
Camila and Normani left the party early. They spent less than three hours at the party and left before ten before the party got wild. It was enough for Camila to greet and talk to some classmates she knew, to dance and enjoy the last party. She left when she thought it was enough. Camila and Normani stopped at the diner to grab some snacks before they headed home. They spent the rest of the night in Normani's backyard, snacking and talking by the poolside.
Normani's phone went off when they were fifteen minutes into their conversation. Normani answered it immediately.
Normani: Hi, Lauren! What's up? (Camila spontaneously looked at Normani.)
Lauren: Mani, I am here. Can you open the door for me?
Normani: Okay! Camila is here.
Lauren: I know.
Normani: Give me a second.
The call ended. Normani pursed her lips, looking at Camila.
"Mila, I did not tell her that you are here with me." Normani had informed Lauren that Alexa saw the mark on Camila's neck, but she did not tell Lauren that they left the party and headed home.
"I know. You can't stop her." Camila sighed. She understood Normani's position.
"I can try to tell her that you ..." Normani felt sorry because she could not stop Lauren and she did not want Camila to feel uncomfortable.
Camila spoke before Normani finished. "It's okay, Mani!" Camila knew that she could not avoid Lauren forever. She was quite happy that Lauren did not annoy her since she left her place.
"Are you sure?" Normani asked.
"Yeah..." Camila smiled helplessly. "I can leave if she's annoying."
"Okay!" Normani stood up to get the door.
.
Lauren showed up with her usual outfit, all black: black t-shirt, black pants, black boots, and black leather jacket. Camila took a sip of her drink when Lauren showed up by the door. Their eyes finally met when Lauren reached the place where Camila was sitting.
"Hi!" Lauren greeted Camila as she sat down next to Camila.
"Hi!" Camila took another sip of her drink and slightly looked at Lauren. "You left the party?"
"What party?" Lauren asked even though she knew what Camila meant.
"Our party? Didn't you go there with Alexa?" Camila said.
"No." Lauren looked at Camila who avoided her eyes.
"Oh, I thought you did," Camila said again.
"You thought of me?" Lauren enjoyed looking at Camila. She was checking on Camila while Camila did not look at her. If Camila did, Lauren would keep her eyes on Camila's.
Camila did not answer Lauren but ate the tortillas from the plate. "Where's Normani?" Camila looked at the entrance to the pool.
"She's getting me something to drink," Lauren said.
"Oh..." Camila offered the tortillas to Lauren.
Lauren looked at the plate and back at Camila's eyes. It made Camila nervous. She retreated to the plate and continued eating the tortillas herself.
