Serena followed Snow up to Regina's cell, intending to give Regina a chance to redeem herself. Of course, this came with a lot of worry, mostly from Charming. Once Regina had her mind set on something, she wasn't going to let it go.
Serena hoped they wouldn't have to use their back-up plan.
"Your highness." The guard said and straightened his posture in front of the princess. Snow nodded in acknowledgment before going over to the window to Regina's cell.
"Leave us, please." She turned to the guard as Regina stared at the candle in her hand.
The guard looked confused. "But I have direct orders from the Prince..."
"And now you have direct orders from me." Snow told him. He nodded shortly and walked out of the room. She sighed and turned to Serena, hiding the small knife in her sleeve.
"First you stop my execution and then you defy your prince to see me?" Regina said, getting the attention of both women. "Should I be worried there's trouble in paradise?"
"I'm not here to talk about my fiancé." Snow responded with a quiet sigh.
"Then why are you here? And with my sister, nonetheless."
"I know you weren't always like this, Regina." Snow gave a sad smile. "The woman who saved my life all those years ago had good in her."
"That woman lost much." The Queen answered, looking away from her. "And now she's gone."
"Maybe." Snow shrugged. "But as hard as you've tried to bury her, I think she's still inside you. Serena's proof of that. You took care of her despite everything."
"She's my sister. I had to."
"No, you didn't." Snow shook her head and smiled, walking over to the door. "All you need" She unlocked the door and opened it. "is someone to help you let her out."
"What are you doing?" Regina asked, skeptical that Snow would give her freedom.
"She's letting the woman who took care of me for years go." Serena answered for Snow, standing next to her. "The same woman who saved her life. This is a chance to start fresh, Regina. To leave the evil behind, in this cell. So I can have my sister back. And Grace can finally know the real you."
Regina took a moment to look around before standing up, wondering how Snow would react. "Just like that?" She asked Snow, walking over to her.
"Just like that." Snow and Serena both smiled at her. Regina walked past them out of the cell, but stopped before they could leave. When Snow stopped in confusion, Regina threw her hand up and grabbed Snow's throat, pushing her against the wall.
"Regina!" Serena tried to get her off the princess, but Regina pushed her away, leaving her against the wall.
Regina then turned to Snow. "You make change sound so easy." Snow grabbed the knife out of her sleeve and held it up, but Regina pinned both of her hands to the wall. "Did you really think this would protect you?"
"Regina, stop!"
"Since I can't use magic, I can think of no better way than to kill you with the blade you had meant for me." Regina said, ignoring her sister and taking the knife from Snow. "Goodbye, Snow White."
"No." Snow tried to shake her head before Regina plunged the knife into her stomach.
She smiled, thinking she finally got her victory. "Yes."
"No." Snow shook her head again as Regina realized the knife had done nothing. She looked down and pulled out the knife, seeing Snow's belt magically fix itself.
