Chapter 28

You talked to Hyde on the phone for a while. Even if you felt tired, you wanted to be there for him until he agreed to get some sleep. Though, the two of you ended up falling asleep during the call. By the time you woke up, it was already getting dark outside. You looked at your phone and realized you were still on call with Hyde. He must've not noticed either. You tried to calculate the time difference and assumed it was now morning in Japan. You tried to get Hyde's attention by calling his name. "....?(y

)?" you heard him rely a little confused. Surely he was half asleep. "We're still on call. We both fell asleep and never hung up", you told him, finding it cute. You never think you'd be at this point in a relationship, to sleep while being on the phone with each other. It was an accomplishment. "Is that so? I wasn't expecting to fall asleep so suddenly" he commented. You were happy to know that you were able to talk to him enough to help him fall asleep. Especially since he wasn't tired at all. It made you feel important and helpful. Yet again, you also fell asleep. But that's because of the long flight back home and jet lag. "It's okay. I'm happy you were able to fall asleep" you said to him. Just knowing your voice was enough to help him, was relieving. Now if only you could see his face again.

You talked to Hyde a little more, as he was going about his morning. Eventually you had to end the call, but you wanted to say a few more things before you did. "I'm sure we can work out a calling schedule, so it won't be too late here or there", you told him. You wanted to find the best available opportunities to call him without staying up too late and messing up your sleep or his. "It would be better to write it down the hours side by side so we can see the difference", Hyde suggested. That was a good idea. Sure you can look at your phone for the exact time here and there but seeing it all laid out at once would be better. "Okay. I'll do that and send you a picture later" you replied immediately trying to find paper and something to write with. "Sounds good. I have to go now, my angel. I'll text you later", Hyde told you. You were a little sad he had to go but you had a mission to do, "I'll be waiting. Have a good day, koala bear" you said before hanging up the phone. Hopefully his day will be good.

You wrote out the time difference on a piece of paper, between Japan and (the state you live in). The gap between the times was certainly big and would be a bit of a pain, but there were a few spots you thought would be best for the two of you to call without it being too early or late. You labeled the best times and took a picture of it and sent it to Hyde. Surely, he'd be able to look at it soon. In the meantime, you went out to the living room to see what Yume was up to. "Enjoyed your nap?", she asked you. "Yes and I was talking to Hideto. We fell asleep on the phone together" you gave her the update. "How cute" Yume complimented, "So I was thinking we should go out to eat dinner. Unless you want to stay home", she suggested. Even though you were only in Japan for a short while, you did miss being home. "I don't mind. What kind of food did you want to eat?", you asked her opinion. "Not sure, we can always go hit up the usual spot for now" she said. Good idea as any. You didn't really feel like being picky anyways.

The two of you headed to the usual spot about 10 minutes away from the apartment. It was a casual (chinese\japanese\italian\korean) type of restaurant. Not expensive but still really good. It was popular enough to stay busy during the lunch and dinner hours. You looked inside and saw there were quite a number of people inside. But you didn't mind waiting a little bit. After about 15 minutes, you and Yume finally got a table to sit at. The waiter didn't take long to tend to you. "What can I get you ladies to drink?" he asked. You looked at the waiter and didn't recognize him. You and Yume practically came here every week and knew almost everyone. He must be new. "You started working here recently?" you decided to ask. He looked surprised you would know. He smiled, "Yea. I'm Adrien. Do you two come here a lot? I don't mean that as some sort of pick up line of anything" he replied. Yume nodded, "Every week. We're pretty friendly with everyone here. I'm Yume by the way and this is (y

)" she introduced the two of you. "It's nice to meet you two. I hope we can get along" Adrien added. Well he certainly seemed like a nice man. Not too bad looking either. Not that you were looking at other guys that way. You were loyal to Hyde. You and Yume gave your drink orders to Adrien and waited for his return by making small talk. When he did come back, you had decided on what you wanted to eat. Before he left Adrien asked a question, "I know this sounds odd, but do you mind if I sit with you guys on my break? If that's not too weird to ask" he said, a little shy at asking. You didn't mind the idea. What's the worst that could happen? Him trying to flirt with you two? "It's not weird, right (y

)?", Yume read your mind. You shook your head, "Not at all" you said. Adrien looked happy, "Alright. Sweet. I'll go put your orders in and be right back" he said before leaving.

Adrien came back a few minutes later and sat down next to Yume. The two of them seemed to be getting along pretty well. You were a little quiet though for some reason. But Adrien was really nice. The three of you easily made conversation while eating dinner. It made the night enjoyable. Though you did seem to notice Adrien looking at you a lot. Not that it was weird or anything, he was just shifting his gaze to whoever was talking. That's what you told yourself. "Hey Adrien, if it's not too much to ask, how about we exchange numbers. We can all hang out again sometime" Yume suggested to him. Looks like Yume was being quite forward today, maybe she found Adrien attractive. Though sometimes you didn't know what she was thinking. On the other side of things, surely Leo would be happy about having a guy to talk to in the group, if it came to that. "That would be awesome" Adrien agreed and the two of you exchanged numbers with him.

When the two of you finished and left the restaurant, you decided to question Yume. "So you like Adrien? Why else would you ask for his number?" you asked her. She shrugged, "He's pretty cool but I wouldn't say I like him like that. Besides, he was looking at you the whole time. Next time we meet, you ought to tell him you have a man in Japan" she told you. So even she noticed his behavior. But surely Yume didn't get his number for your sake since she knew about Hideto. "Yea. I noticed that too. But then why ask for his number if I'm taken?" ,you questioned. Unless she was lying about liking him in that way. "I'm not sure actually. The idea just popped into my head" she answered. She had to be lying. "Just like all your other random ideas I'm sure" you rolled your eyes. "Just relax, it's fine. If he does start making moves on you, just tell him you're taken. Simple as that" Yume replied. That was true. You shouldn't worry much. Though why did it bug you so much that Yume didn't have a reason for asking for his number. This never happened with any of the other guy waiters there.
