Ruma ended up getting some sleep throughout the day, both Ratok and Deon had stayed fairly quiet about the events that they learned about. Processing the information in their own ways.
As the night came Ruma remembered she had to go on to another one of those socialite parties, they ones only the best were brought into. Again she was told Vassenhilo hadn't been invited but, the people from last time would be there.
"Is this that Gala?" Ratok asked as he was leaned against the bedroom wall watching her get dressed.
Ruma shook her head no, "Just a little social event, the Gala that this place was named for happens in the last few days as the big ending event"
"How long are you going to be gone?"
"Couple hours, don't stay up if you get tired."
"You being gone, is getting to Deon. He is stressing alot."
"Just him?"
Ratok shook his head, "No, but I can handle stress." he came up to kiss her.
Ruma thought about the conversation the day before with the she-bear, "Hey Ratok, you'd never keep anything from me would you?"
"Not unless I had too."
Ruma nodded and stretched up and hugged him. Then headed out.
She met with Bvelpio just outside where the guards where stationed to watch the rooms. Just as before she was quickly escorted to one of the upper decks. They went into a side room, where Ruma quickly donned a new dress and was brought in quickly.
Ruma was a bit startled by the fact this was a completely different room than where they had been originally. She forgot how large this station was, and just knew that it was far bigger than she could comprehend.
Ruma walked in pasting a smile on, as she greeting people that walked up to her, they were more warming than before. As if the idea of seeing a pet among their ranks was not as insulting as the first time. Well at least to some of them.
Across the board of different species there was many that continued to stick their noses up at her, and a few that even spewed insults under their breath. She couldn't focus on them, though a few of them, she knew by sight and they would have been great pawns to add to her game.
"Ms. Kalinda, pleasure to see you again." Ruma said, pushing through the pain that it brought.
The tall lanky woman spun about, with a beaming grin. "I was wondering if you were coming tonight, you seem to the only interesting conversation I can achieve among these fools."
Ruma chuckled, "Is there anyone here that does good conversation besides myself, and you of course?"
Kalinda seemed too scan the room, "There is a couple of people here. Come, you can be my pretty arm piece for the night and I'll introduce you around. Maybe we can spicy the night up a bit, and quit with the same dull conversations over and over."
Kalinda offered her arm out to Ruma, who wrapped hers under, and the two continued out to the floor.
Kalinda brought her around a few people, and unknown to Kalinda one of them happened to be the Hirkerna that was part of Stori and Bvelpio's group. Ruma fuaxed her responce to make it look as if she had never seen him before, and he did the same. The less interactions she had with that group outside of the meetings the more likely she was to get away with things.
"It is surprising to see you showing off a pet like this Kalinda." the Hirkerna spoke, his words snorting.
"Remember the old human saying of looks like a duck, acts like a duck, well you see. She does not look like a pet, she does not act like a pet, so it is best to pretend that she isn't one." Kalinda spoke.
The Hirkerna nodded his head. Then moved away from them. Kalinda took no mind to that and continued to gossip with the group they had come up to. Ruma snuck in a few words, keeping her words short and manageable.
Ruma wasn't sure about these three newcomers or how she would fair around them, but it wasn't the worse of people so she might as well use them as she could.
There was Tefika, she was incharge of a very large for hire gun group, that you could purchase to start an entire coup on any planet in any part of the galaxies. She was a tactical nightmare, and Ruma did fear her abilities a bit, she could figure her plan out quicker than she could put it together, which might only be good if she was on her side.
Moncious, was next in the group, another pet breeder, but he focused on non-humanoids, specifically in the canine divisions. Which made him safe enough to be around as he had no interest in going after Ruma herself, but also made him a wild card cause she had nothing of value to him. He was most likely on the pass list.Lastly, Geirg, he was the same species as Kalinda, and seemed to fancy her greatly. Be it for her looks or power Ruma wasn't quite sure. He was in the resource smuggling ring. Which would be quite useful. Energy was his prime target, but rare materials was something he started with. Also useful.
Sticking with Kalinda tonight was proving alot more useful in finding people and their information. Though Ruma knew if she was to continue her games, shed have to track them down and figure them out on their own too.
The night continued Ruma drank, laugh and a few times got a couple of dances out, with some more intoxicated members. Kalinda was red cheeked and flushed by the end of the night as well.
"For a pet, you are quiet enjoyable. Seriously Ruma, your master needs to let you out more, I would kill to have you at these little gathering more often. You also give the male gaze something to target other than myself. Very helpful."
Ruma just gave a polite grin, her voice and throat was shattered, and honestly had no words to respond to that statement.
"See you around dearie." she said, as she shuffled off, to a male attendant waiting on her. Bvelpio found Ruma and escorted her off and back to her quarters.
"You made quite the show tonight. People might start talking." Bvelpio said, in out loud thoughts.
"Is that good or bad?" Ruma asked, in a horsed whisper.
"Oh my your voice is horrendous, please don't speak again."
Ruma nodded.
"Now, the important part is to keep Vassenhilo from finding out, but he is still rather steamed from your altercation that it might actually keep him under control."
Ruma shook her head.
"But I will warn, quit making yourself noticed by that Kalinda lady, she isn't controllable and can be very devastating for us, understand."
Ruma nodded, and she was sent to go change back into her normal clothing.
