Once we get back home I run into dad's office to grab the paper John b needs "What are you doin'?" Dad asks me making me jump "I... just wanted a copy of one of the old plat maps." I say pulling it out "A plat map. Of Tannyhill." He asks "Yeah." I smile "You never wanted to look at those when I tried to show 'em to you" Dad tells me "Well since then, I have become so appreciative of this beautiful property that we call home and they re so beautiful, I thought maybe I could get them framed and hung in my room" I tell him "Okay come on stella, seriously. What is this a school thing?" He asks "No it's July." I tell him "A Topper thing?" Dad asks "Definitely not a topper thing. But it is a boy thing" I tell him "A boy thing" Dad repeats me "He's a real go-getter. I think you'll like him" I smile. "Hey who is this mystery history buff? Is he a cartographer or somethin'?" Dad asks me "Well I could tell you but then he wouldn't be a mystery would he?" I ask as I open the door "Hey!" Dad calls out "Yes?" I say putting my head through the door "Make good choices" he tells me "I will." I smile "Be careful with that" Dad warns me "Promise." I say kissing the map. "Thank you. You're the best." I yell out as I start to leave
Once I make it to the top I see John b waiting for me "Hey JB I got the map! Wanna see?" I ask as I open it up "Oh, shit. Holy hell." He says "Yeah. Did you tell the crew you were here with me?" I ask him "Yeah. They thought you bringing me the map was code for us... you know" he says "Oh gosh" I laugh There is a huge crack of thunder making us both jump. "Oh my god!" I laugh "You okay?" JB asks me "I'm fine. What are we even doing up here?" I ask him "I have no idea. You wanna go down?" John B asks "No." I smile "Neither do I." He smiles back and we both lean in for a kiss "I knew it stella. I knew you were lying to me." I hear topper say "Topper!" I yell "You're a stupid lying whore. You know that?" Topper tells me "So first I'm a prude and now I'm a whore" I ask. "Yeah you are" Topper tells me. "Topper stop man." JB says trying to get him away from me "You stop man. You don't wanna do this right now" Topper warns him "Hey. Hey" John B says "Tell him to back off, 'cause I'm about to beat your fucking ass..." he tells me "Walk away man. Go home. Go home." John b tells him "You know what I'm gonna do? I'm about to drown you like your old man" Topper tells him "Quit it" John B says "Topper just go!" I tell him "Tell your little bitch boyfriend to back off!" Topper yells "Go home!" John B yells back "Stella let's talk" Topper tells me. "She doesn't want to!" John B tells him "What did I tell you man!" Topper yells shoving JB. John b feel backyards breaking through the wood railing falling down to the ground "Shit. What the... Stella ...Stella the railing must have been rotten. I hardly touched him okay? I barely... He lost his bal-Stella!" Topper yells as I run down the stairs to John b "No! John B! John B! Oh... oh my God." I put my hands on his face crying "Hey can you open your eyes please? Someone help! Please somebody help!" I yell out "It's okay. It's okay" I mumble to John b I look up to see JJ, Pope, and Kie running towards me "El! What happened?" Pope asks "I don't know what to do. He needs help. Topper he-he shoved him." I try to explain "Where the hell is he?" JJ asks "I don't know. please just get help. I don't care who. Just call someone" I tell them "Go. Go!" JJ tells Pope. "Help please" I beg them "Pope hurry!" Kie yells "John B stay with me. Please don't leave me. John B please" I cry "Pope! Come on!" JJ yells
I sit next to John b in the hospital waiting for him to wake up. "Hi." I smile as I see his eyes open up "Hi. Where am I?" He asks "St. Olive's. You fell from the Hawk's Nest. You have a concussion and a broken wrist" I tell him "Whoa." John b says looking at his cast "Pretty cool" I laugh "I need to get outta here. DCS is gonna find me..." john b grains trying to get up but I stop him "Hang on there kid. Hang on." My dad says walking in "Stella told me everything. About your little adventure, about you running from the DCS, about how you were protecting her in the tower. John I believe I owe you an apology. You were honest with me about a small indiscretion, and I went ahead and fired you anyway. And I shouldn't have. Unfortunately from time to time, I have a bit of a... short fuse. Ask her." He says "It's true." I smile "I'd like to make up for it if you'll let me. I spoke with Sheriff Peterkin and... I've offered to be your legal guardian, if you'll have me" Dad tells him "What?" John b asks "It'd mean a roof over your head and no more runnin' from the DCS" Dad explains "Sure yeah. Uh... sounds good" John B says as I smile "Okay then it's settled. Welcome to the family."
