"So this is what we're doing huh?" JJ asks me "We're just sailing out. We're just gonna forget about John B? We should never have left him. We're turning right back around." JJ tells us "No! We're all gonna get caught. What type of plan is that?" Cleo tells him "It's a plan to stick together Cleo" JJ says "Then we are dead together" Cleo was "She's right JJ. We had to leave or we'd all be zip-tied in the back of a pickup. As hard as it was we did the right thing." I tell him then a phone rings "It's the phone Stel stole" Sarah says "That's John B" JJ says picking it up "That's definitely John B. Hold on." He says answering the phone "Yo! Dude! Is this you?" He asks "Speaker. Speaker." Kie tells JJ "What... Do you need us to turn around?" JJ asks him but John b's voice was cutting out "Yo say it again. Say it again." JJ says "We do not copy. Can you-" JJ starts to say but I grab the phone. "Let me talk to him. John B? Are you okay?" I ask him "Yes. I'm fine. Everything's good. Listen." John b says "He's fine. Thank God. What happened?" I ask him but I couldn't hear what he said "Wait. What'd you say? John B? I... I can't hear you. John B?" I ask him "I'll meet you on Kildare okay?" I hear him say. "Kildare when? John B! No no no. John B!" I say but the phone cuts off "Kildare. What the hell?" I mumble "You guys think he found his father?" Cleo asks us "He's been missing for almost a year" Pope tells her "Stel what do you think?" Sarah asks me "Should we go back?" Kie asks "Ella... We're sitting ducks. We need to make a decision. Are we turning back around or are we gonna keep going? ella come on! Stella we need to make a decision!" JJ tells me "He said go" I say "Hold on listen" JJ starts to say "Go" I tell him "Ella" JJ says "Go!" I raise my voice at him
Kie and JJ were up driving the boat for a while until I decided to go help. When I was walking up kie was walking down and I could tell something was up.
"I am sorry we had to leave John B. You know better than anyone I didn't want to but that's what he wanted." I tell him "I know." JJ nods "What did they want again?" JJ asks me "Denmark's Diary" I answer "Why?" JJ asks "I don't know. Said it leads to a treasure that's a lot bigger than the Merchant" I tell him "You're saying there's a bigger treasure?" JJ asks "Possibly" I shrug "And you didn't tell him where the diary is right?" JJ asks me "I told him Ive seen it but I didn't tell him where" I tell him "Why does Singh want it so much?" JJ asks me "Singh said that he thinks the diary has a clue in it to the location of some city of gold. Like the gold on the Merchant was just a small part of it." I tell him "Okay so the diary we have leads to a 500-year-old treasure that no one's ever found?" JJ asks me "Yep" I say "I'm in. It's kind of like my best option at this point so... Definitely beats sitting in geometry class." JJ says "Oh 100%" I say "I mean I don't even know what'll happen when we get back to the OBXz Nothing good. I can tell you that. Nothing good." JJ tells me "Well we don't have much to go back to" I tell him "At least you don't got a restitution though. No job. No parents. Yeah arrows are going to be coming in hot. But you know what we do when arrows come flying?" JJ says and acts like he's dodging arrows. "Bing. Ding ding ding!" JJ says jumpimg up hanging from the rafter. "Ding!" He says "Oh my gosh" I laugh After he stops and sits back down I decide to go ahead and ask him "What's up with you and kie?" I ask him "I don't know what you're talking about" JJ tells me "Oh cut the bullshit man. We all see it" I laugh "Plus it's my turn to give you dating advice" I laugh "So I like her yes, definitely. But I can't do anything. I don't want to do that to pope" he tells me "Oh my gosh all you boys are so blind" I roll my eyes "Pope will be fine. Him and cleo kinda have a thing for each other. Just don't fuck it up with kie yeah?" I tell him before he can answer pope speaks up "Hey." He says and we turn to look at him "Just wanted to let you guys know that we should probably stop for gas" Pope says "Alright thanks Pope." I tell him as he walks off
After we get some gas I sit with Sarah on the stern. "It's Rafe's boat" I tell her "W-What?" She asks "He was at Singh's. Apparently he was trying to sell the cross to him." I tell her "Oh my God" she rolls her eyes "He apologized. For everything he did to me." I tell her looking at my feet "And what did you say?" Sarah asks me "I- I didn't forgive me. I can't forgive him. Sarah I don't know what is wrong with me. When I looked into his eyes, I saw my older brother again. And I wanted to forgive him. But then everything he did cane flooding back and I couldn't. I don't think I'll ever be able to" I tell her "I understand Stel. I feel the same way to some extent, probably just as much as you but I do. You have a choice to forgive him, just like he had a choice to do those things to you" she tells me "I'm so glad I still have you" I say hugging her "And you always will" she smiles
It's barely morning when we pull into kildare. Everyone split up as I started walking to John b's house.
I find John b asleep moving around. It looks like he's having a nightmare so I run to his side trying to wake him up. He jumps awake sitting up "Hey. Hi." I smile "Star?" John B asks "Hi." I smile again "It's you. You're here." He says "Yeah." I nod "Oh my God. Oh my God" John B says giving me a hug "Hi. Hi. It's okay. Hi. Hi. You're home. You're safe. We made it back." I tell him "I missed you. Oh my God." John b says "I'm here. I know. I'm so sorry we left. I am so sorry. I just I didn't know what else to do. I didn't even know if you'd be here. We literally couldn't hear anything on the phone." I tell him "Wait you couldn't hear anything?" John B asks me "No just that we should come back to OBX but that's it." I say "So you don't know" John B says "Don't know what?" I ask him "Stella. He's alive.'My dad's alive. And... and he's here right now. Look." John B says looking through the window but no one's there "No he was just right there. Star I swear to God he was. He was here. Dad!" John b yells "John B" I say "No no Star. Hey. Look I... I promise he's here. Give me one second. Dad!" John b yells getting up "Hey um..." I say "No no hold on. I promise you. Hold on." John B says walks out into the backyard. "Dad! Hey Dad! Dad!" John b yells
