Well, this was underwhelming.
Workers were the largest crew in Seoul stationed in the south. I've mentioned before that they're less of a crew and more an enterprise. With millions of dollars rolling in, it also makes Workers the wealthiest of the four crews which is what, in turn, probably aids in their power as well.
As I knew it, the Workers had five affiliates or businesses where they gained all of the money from. All of them would put on the front of normal businesses but there were always some illegal things happening in the dark. These five affiliates were:
First Affiliate: The Grimm Plastic Surgery Center
(Illegal Business: It runs on two parts. The first part being private ambulances that charge high fees to loved one of the carried individuals. Then, the other part, has them take wealthy people and extort the law into admitting them into their "mental health" facility where they take all of their position and wealths and then proceed to treat them like absolute shit.)
Second Affiliate: Lucky Casino
(Illegal Business: "Circus" - in the circus, they kidnap the world's most dangerous criminals then have them all fight each other until the death.)
Third Affiliate: Club Vivi
(Illegal Business: Creating and distributing drugs across Korea)
Fourth Affiliate: ONE MCN
(Illegal Business: Minors are hired through fake contracts and are forced to work without pay. They are literally trapped inside of a basement in rooms that are guarded by mercenaries to keep them in line and monitor them through cameras.)
Fifth Affiliate: Loaning Business
(Illegal Business: All of it is probably Illegal. Though at the current position of the story, this business has yet to emerge. What they do is they loan people money then charge crazy high pay back rates.)
Actually, there are a lot of questions that come up with this place being considered an affiliate. For one, why is it referred to as the sixth when the fifth affiliate doesn't even exist at this point of the story? Another, is why would Workers have an affiliate stationed at the center of Seoul. Wouldn't it be safer to hold it in the South where the crew is actually located? Not in the middle of Jung-gu.
Aside from all of this I distinctly remember Seo-ah telling me that the position they were offering me wasn't as bad as I thought. Does working for an illegal organization that extorts others for money not count as bad? Or did she simply mean that I wouldn't have to walk around playing executioner.
When I realized who I was working for, I was expecting some grand spectacle waiting for me. Instead, I was greeted by a large waiting room. The room was around a hundred by a hundred feet with pristine white walls and black furniture organized into small sections. At the middle was a single reading desk with a small lamp and two white lumps resting on either side of it.
...
So you're telling me that the sixth affiliate is a regular waiting room? There weren't any damn doors down here either except for the one we just stepped out of. Seo-ah led me towards the reading table in the center of the room. Once we got closer, I noticed that the white lumps were actually masks.
The mask had a triangle shaped face, widening around the forehead into a thin, round chin. It was split into two parts with a diagonal white line cutting from the top left half to the bottom cheek. The bottom part, which held a slim nose, wide lips painted gold, and arched eyes...was left white. The other half was checkered with small diamonds with a red, gold, pattern. As for the arched eyes, they were surrounded in gold details that reminded me of a bird's plumage.
