"Guess who's back!"
My Uncle frowned as soon as I stepped through the door of the chicken shop.
"Please go back."
Hahaha! What a funny old prick! I dropped my bags at the doorway and launched myself at him. He let out a small grunt as I wrapped my arms around him and picked him up from the floor. Oh, it feels so nice to be back! Hmm, I can never get tired of the smell of fried chicken.
When I put him down he gave Viola a look, "I told you to take your time on the way back."
Viola laughed, "Oh, but I couldn't help it! I was so excited to bring the two cuties back and talk about their trip! They brought so many souvenirs too! Hehe!"
Uncle sighed again before going back to the fryer, "Just go put your bags up. Don't leave them in front of my shop."
Oops, sorry about that. I was just really excited to be back. Sookie huffed as she dropped off the rest of our bags near the doorway. We're lucky to have made it before the lunch rush or we'd be moving through a traffic of people. Both on the way here and in the shop.
Our stay in the US was never going to be long. Since I spent two months out of school healing from my past incident. You know, when I had my arm in a cast. There weren't many days I could take without failing the school year. Sookie was a bit disappointed we couldn't have stayed longer. It was only the weekend.
Next time, we'll go during summer break. That way we can even go camping. You'd think camping in the middle of the summer would be horrendous but there's something about the woods that makes the wind feel fresh no matter how harsh the sun gets. In the morning before the sky wakes up, there's such a pretty breeze near the hills.
Today was Tuesday and technically we're supposed to be in school right now but I thought it would be best we didn't go completely jet lagged. Sookie was already falling asleep on the way here. She grabbed the handle of her suitcase and started dragging it towards the stairs in the back.
Her parents let her stay the night so I know for a fact as soon as she finds my room she's claiming the bed.
Despite being there for such a short time it was a nice distraction. Yesterday, Pori took us to that new arcade, the bowling alley and then to finally see his mom. That lady was still feisty as ever. We got away without a beating thanks to Sookie who somehow managed to charm that crazy woman.
Some of the old men in the back waved me over.
"Look who's back! Bring us anything?"
Aha! As a matter of fact I did! I put a box of poptarts in front of them. Did you know how hard it is to find Poptarts in Korea? And then when you do find them there's this insane mark-up price. Like fuck, I'm not paying triple the price for something with this little nutrients.
So I have dedicated one of my entire suitcases to Poptarts. My uncle gets poptarts. These old men get pop tarts. Everyone is getting Poptarts. Though, I do have to say that the agent looking over my luggage gave me a judging look. It was a very shameful moment for me.
"Ah, I've seen these in E-mart."
I nodded, "Yep, but that's a limited edition flavor you're holding. Confetti cake."
One of the men gave me a look, "Confetti cake?"
"Confetti cake." I said confidently.
"Ila! Can you help me please? I don't think I can drag it all the way up the stairs!" Sookie yelled to me from behind the shop.
"Alright, I'm going!"
How predictable. Sookie snored lightly from the top of my bed. I walked over and slipped off her shoes then laid one of my covers over her sleeping body. Helping me bring up the rest of the stuff probably drained what little energy she had left. If her parents call to check up on her I'll just tell them she fell asleep.
