CHERRY: THE LIFE OF A FIGHTER
-
There is something incredibly wrong with Johnson Town, Saitama and something even worse in Iruma Shritisu High School. On the first day since my meeting with that strange girl I made sure to watch closely to everything around me. That included adapting to the behavior of everyone else.
Rule one of the jungle. If the birds stop singing that means you stop too. The weak always know when to feel the presence of a tiger. But here there wasn't a sole tiger.
The first day I noticed how some girls carried themselves differently. No, not just the girls. Even though the guys would be kept on the other side of the building, what little I saw of them during PE outside my second floor window was the same. People carried themselves differently here depending on who they were with.
It wasn't until the second day that I identified these figures. For the guys it was a duet of buzz cut boys that were well over six feet. It really made you wonder how tall they would grow since they were still in their teens. But these two carried themselves with a confident arrogance that got on my nerves incredibly. Always going around and shoving around the "smaller" or "weaker" guys.
As for the girls, there were multiple groups. From what I could tell, a total of three.
The Princesses: A group of five snobby rich kids that had more expensive everything. Their book bags were of high quality, their shoes of name brand, and the jewels in their hair too uncomfortable to be poor. These girls kept their hair long and ordered the younger girls around like servants.
Wannabe Sukeban: For those of you wondering what Sukeban are, they're all-female street gangs. My parents warned me of the Yakuza but it seems that these girls wanted to control their own societies as well. Though I know these high school girls are nothing more than delinquents that wished to carry the title of "gang". Dipping your school bags in hot water or gluing them closer to each other to make them thin and stepping on the back of your shoes did not make you a gangster.
2 Moons and a Sun: This is a personal name that I've given these three. The 2 Moons were the two girls who cleared the path of students. Hikaru and Minuro Yasuda or otherwise known as the "twins". Their looks were similar enough I suppose. Both of them had round faces, large eyes, arched eyebrows and small noses. Hikaru liked wearing her long hair up in a bun at the back of her head with her fringy bangs just above her eyes. Her sister, Minuro wore it short at the shoulders like everyone else, only she took the time to give it a beautiful volume.
These two were quiet and serious for the most part. During class they paid attention and took notes. Even when the teacher left, the only talking they did was to themselves. Though that was easily stopped by "The Sun" or Yua Hino.
Yua was a strange girl who never stopped smiling. It was quite disturbing to witness actually. Especially since sometimes she would stare at me without blinking with that smile of hers for minutes. Aside from her strangeness she was also absolutely absurd.
During my fourth day, at lunch, she climbed onto one of the tables and started spinning around to some silent song in her head. Her shoes would click and stomp on the table as she would throw out her arms in a swinging motion and then shake her hips.
It was actually my fourth day that I decided it was best to stay away from "The Moons and Sun". Why would I feel troubled by two quiet studious girls and one who likes to dance on tables? It was the fact that no one told them anything about everything.
The twins, as studious as they were, never paid attention when our male professors came to teach. Minuro would turn her chair around to speak to her sister in soft whispers or pass notes. And they would throw the nastiest glares. As for Yua...everything she did called for disciplinary action yet she was never called out on it.
