Ho Jeong slammed his hand on the front board. A large poster had been taped on the wall. Was it that time already? The Tenth J High Fest. A festival in which the freshman of every departments raise money for their respective groups. I can't lie when I say I'm looking forward to it. Especially the performances.
"As our freshman representative I'm putting myself in charge of this years festivities. I know that the Baking Department not as popular as the other departments but this year, let's show them whose the best!"
A bunch of people clapped weakly.
He smiled, "So for this years booth. I want you all to put your heart into it, alright?"
They all offered short answers. Earlier I heard a bunch of them saying that they were going to call in sick the day of festival so they could enjoy it themselves. I felt kind of bad that they didn't show his enthusiasm for the event. Cho Sook scrolled through her phone making it obvious just how little she cared.
Wow, even her. How bad do they do that not even Sook is up and roaring to go? Huh? Where did class representative go? Jeon took a seat at his station as if he'd just given the best speech in the world. What the hell was this? Where's the planning? Where's the long lists? What the hell was happening?
"Is that it?"
I said that a little louder than I wanted to. My ears burned a little.
Jeon looked a bit surprised, "What do you mean?"
"Well...its just...there seems to be lack of preparation for this. What did the upperclassman usually do?"
"...Sell bread."
I was kind of waiting for more but obviously I was going nowhere. You know what, I didn't want to put too much effort into this but another thing you need to know about me besides being a hot-head...is that I'm extremely competitive! There's no way that I'm letting these other departments show us up! Just because they have a couple pretty faces doesn't mean shit!
"No! This can't be it! We have to put more effort into it! What kind of business plan is this!"
Sook clapped her hands softly, "Ooo...I've never seen you this geared up unless your pissed off. Now that I think of it, didn't you mention your Uncle had his own fried chicken shop. You must know a thing or two."
"Not to brag or anything," I tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear, "but I'm kind of an expert when it comes to these kind of things."
Part of me was expecting Jeon to feel offended but there was a prideful smile on his face, "Yes! That's the spirit! What do you have in mind?!"
I walked up to the board. My time to shine. Let's see, where should we start. I grabbed a dry erase marker and thought for a while.
"Guys, why are the other departments more popular than us?"
Sook immediately raised her hand, "Their classes are filled with pretty boys!"
All the guys in our class frowned. I'm sorry boys but it was the sad truth. The world is a cruel place.
"Exactly! So we need to bring something exciting of our own to drag in a crowd. Something that can compete over hot guys and pretty girls. As sad as I am to say this, good baking won't cut the trick. If that's all it took then the Baking Department wouldn't do so poorly every year. We need something cool, something bold. We need..." Everyone leaned in as I smiled, "A Maid Café."
"EH!"
Hehe. In all honesty I wasn't thinking for the Baking Department right now. Almost all the anime's that I've watched had some sort of themed café and it just seemed fun to do. Also, I want to get back at the whole class for pranking me. It was hard for me to keep back the smile forming at the thought of the guys wearing maid outfits.
