Silence is full of answers

'Going out. Don't worry. I'll be back soon.'

Only three sentences but I was reading it over and over again.

New isn't back yet. I've been waiting the whole night sitting at the corner counting the minutes. Now that the outside is getting clearer I think the night is finally over.

Where is he! Is everything alright! This is the first time I have spent a night without him beside me. That's why I didn't lie down.

I am starting to freak out.

The morning went by and my mood was becoming more and more unstable. Finally I couldn't help but went straight to knock on the forbidden door.

Big brother Haru's room. This room previously belonged to Mrs Jones but now he made it his den.

I knocked several times and finally the door opened from the inside and a gloomy face appeared in front of me.

'Big brother.' I couldn't help but shivered. He is almost twenty and has a muscular body. In this orphanage everyone is afraid of him.

'Why are you banging on my door? Are you tired of living?' His voice was full of malice.

I forced myself to calm down and asked,

'My friend New...... isn't back yet.'

'So?'

'Where is he?' I looked straight at him though my legs were about to give out.

'You...! Are you trying to get on my nerves!' He grabbed my collar and slammed me into the wall. My back started to ache instantly. But before he hit me more I heard footsteps.

'Big brother. The client said the package is in good condition. They are happy with New's efficiency.'

It was one of his henchmen, Saifa. Luke was also standing nearby looking at me with pursed lips. What's his problem!

'Huh! What efficiency! He almost got caught by the cops. Keep him locked up there for two more days. No food no water.'

What! New is back! And they've locked him up somewhere! They are torturing him!

'Yes brother. But for a beginner......he did okay.' Saifa said calmly.

'I am going back to sleep. Don't bother me again.' He didn't even look at me and closed the door.

'What are you doing here? Why aren't you at school? That Dean lady really wasted money on you brats. You don't need education, you need to learn our crafts.' Saifa gave me a glance full of disgust.

'Let me handle him. You go back to the dock and let them know about the deal.' Luke patted Saifa's back.

'Hm.' Without wasting time he left.

'Follow me.' Luke's voice was low. He started to walk towards the back building and I followed him without a question.

'Where is New? Is he okay?' I asked impatiently when we got out of the main building.

'Don't shout.'

'You are really something! Just in a year you became a gang member. Who would have thought that huh!' I was fuming in anger. I was already upset after hearing New is locked up without food and water and now I remembered that New once helped him get along with the boys.

'I did what I had to do.' He said nonchalantly. His demeanor is always this cold. I don't know what his problem is but I never liked him a bit.

'You are a petty criminal. Just like them.' I said haughtily.
