'I was looking for you.' New said with a smile but that smile wasn't for me, he was smiling at Non.

'Why P? Do you need something? Or did you miss me?' Non's laugh made my heart clenched.

'Your mom is making your favourite dumplings. Go and eat them before it gets cold.' He was talking patiently, he never talked to me like this....

'Yes P..... aren't you coming?' Non grabbed his arm and started to shake.

'I need some fresh air. You go ahead, I will be back soon.' He didn't mind the shaking at all, in addition rubbed his head with affection. Clearly......he liked him too.

I wanted to cry.........

'Then.....P Tay? Come here. I want you to meet someone.' He waved his hand and smiled at me.

I slowly walked up to them. New was looking at me without giving anything away but my heart was hurting like hell. He looks happier with Non.

'P Tay... this is P New....my..um...'

'I know...' I don't want to hear it.

'He he.' He smiled ear to ear. Then looked at New and said,

'This is P Tay. He is the chief engineer of the road repairing team. I met him a few days ago.'

'Mn. Hello.' New was all polite.

I curtly nodded.

'What are you waiting for? Don't you want those dumplings?' New looked at Non and wiggled his eyebrows.

'Oh I totally forgot! Okay then....P New, don't be too late....P Tay....go back and rest well. See you tomorrow.' He ran away with a hearty laugh.

I looked at Non's back then looked at New and suddenly I felt very tired. I just wanted to disappear silently.

'Didn't we decide to meet this afternoon? Why weren't you there?' New shoved his hands in his trousers pockets and scrutinized my face.

I didn't say anything but kept looking at the distance where Non was a minute ago.

'When did you two became friends? You didn't tell me about it.' He followed my gaze.

I stayed silent.

'Stay away from him.' This time his voice was full of warning.

'Don't worry. I didn't tell him anything.' Pent up anger started to boil my blood.

'What's there to tell?' New asked with confusion.

Yeah. So true. What's there to tell...... it's not like you are cheating on me..... there's nothing going on between us.....I bit my tongue and the pain kept my sanity in check.

'How are you? Has your fever completely gone?'

'I am fine.' I answered curtly.

'Then go back and take rest.'

'I am going to stay here for a while, you go ahead.' I murmured, my neck was throbbing in pain. I wanted to itch like crazy.

'How long it's gonna take to repair the temple road?'

Why? Can't wait to get married?

I started to walk along the beach. To calm my heart down. New hesitated first then said,

'Your house is in the opposite direction.'

I kept walking.

'Tay?' His voice got muffled in wind.

Stop calling me, I won't answer.

'Come back. It's going to rain soon.' He kept calling me. But I kept walking and almost reached the rocky area where the temple ruins are.
