'I am going to put you in an isolation ward. No one will be allowed to visit you there. That is the only thing I can do to keep you alive.'

'I am doing fine. You said so yourself.'

'I said you can meet people or talk to them while lying in bed. I didn't say that you can wander around!'

'Oh. Then you should be more clear about it. Don't say words casually.'

'This is your last warning. If you don't listen to me....'

'You won't treat me anymore? Really!'

'You are the most difficult patient I ever had to treat! Now go and lie down. Nurse, take his vitals.'

I grudgingly went to bed and sat down. The thing is the moment we stepped inside the hospital we met Dr Wut. He was coming out of a OT and we ran into him. Thankfully he didn't say anything to mom but I had to listen to his scolding again. Now he is threatening me that he will send me to an isolation ward.

'Everything is normal dr.' The nurse informed.

'Hm. Now get some rest. And you people, please clear the room.' He was talking to Tay, Luke and Phuong, who were standing guiltily near my bed.

'I need to talk to you about Tay's injury.' I wanted to know about the actual scenario.

'Okay, then he can stay.' So Tay stayed back and Luke and Phuong left.

'Tell me first, How long will it take to heal his hand without surgery? I know it's already been almost 17 days and it's still not fully healed.' I asked anxiously.

'I said before that it will heal without surgery but it will take a long time and it will be very painful. But he didn't listen to me.' Dr Wut gave Tay a look.

'I know it's already too late but can surgery be done now?' Tay won't admit it but I know he is in pain.

If I knew he would do such a thing I wouldn't have left him. He is still very stubborn.

'Doing it now will not get good results, now it is desirable to cure the thing by medicine.'

I looked at Tay who was still smiling at me.

'Sometimes he feels pain. Can you do something about it?'

'He can try an ice pack and I can prescribe some strong painkiller.' He suggested.

'No. No need to prescribe painkillers.' I know from my experience that painkillers are dangerous. At first they would help you to reduce the pain but then you get addicted quickly. When I was in military, day after day I survived by this. But later when it stopped working I had to seek help from alcohol. And now I can't live without it..one addiction led to another.

'New.....if he takes in moderation it would not be harmful. I know what are you thinking.....'

'I am thinking nothing. I will take care of him. Instead you can prescribe some pain reliever spray or cream.' I hurriedly stopped him from mentioning my addiction.

'I already did. Tay? Are you using them regularly?'

'Sometimes.' He was lying. I know his habits. He always looks down when lying.

'Mn. New? Got your answer? Why is he still in pain?'

'Mn. It's my fault. I shouldn't have left him here unattended. I forgot how stubborn he can be.'

'Then you know what to do.'

'I know. Thanks.'

'Huh! You are thanking me! That's a first..' He laughed.
