We walked throughout the night and still could not find the fire cave. After walking for over another hour we left with no other choice, because New was almost unconscious and my condition is not great either. We must find a safe hiding place before sunrise. Daylight is our enemy now when anyone can see us even from a great distance because the jungle is not dense enough, and in our present condition, we would die without a doubt if we met with those armed men.

After thinking for a minute I managed to carry New up a leafy tree. This particular tree is short but very bushy and perfect for hiding.

I carefully wedged him in a low fork between branches before feeding him some water then I drank a few gulp. Thank god we didn't leave the stream side.

According to New's calculations, help will definitely come but the condition is we have to survive until then..... without proper medicine I don't know how to keep New alive. Tears started to roll down from my eyes.

At that moment, New slowly began to stir. When he opened his eyes and looked around, he became immediately aware of our current situation.

He tried to move his body a bit, but shook violently. After that he flinched and fell still.

'Don’t move around, just rest. We still have to make our way to the fire cave, so make sure to get as much rest as you can.' I stopped him from making any other movement.

He looked toward me and asked,

'Are you alright?'

'I’m fine.' I brushed his hair back reassuringly and smiled a bit.

The sun was already up and our surroundings were bathed in yellow reddish light...in this redness New could not see that my legs were stained red with blood.

'Ok. Good.'

He slowly relaxed but after a while his face suddenly became gloomy.

'What's wrong?'

'You are bleeding.' He was looking intently at my legs.

Ah! He saw those stains.

'I am gonna wipe that village out of the map. I promise.'

'Hey hey, relax. Not everyone is bad na? Those two men who helped us before....they are also part of that village na?'

'Then I'll kill that basterd and his men.'

'You don't have to do anything. There's law and order...'

'Don't make me laugh! Law and order! Huh! Money can buy anything. No, I am not going to wait for 'law and order' to punish them. I am going to kill them myself.'

'You are not gonna do no such thing. Stop getting hyper.....'

'They dared to hurt you! I am going to show them how painful death can be....'

I touched his forehead and it was hot as hell. He is running a fever....I can't let him get all worked up.

I climbed a bit and sat by him on the fork. Laying back against the trunk, I patted my chest and smiled,

'Want to lean against me?'

He paused fuming for a moment and just stared. Then he mumbled absent mindedly,

'No one ever had offered to let me 'lean' against them before.'

'You don't need anyone. You need only me. Sorry I wasn't there before whenever you needed to lean on.' I kissed his hot forehead feeling utterly distressed for him.
