After ending the first half of the season on the wrong foot, the Colgate Raiders take a New year's trip to Minneapolis, Minnesota to play one of the hottest teams in the country, the Minnesota Golden Gophers in a tournament setting tonight. Charlie Finn and Adam Wilcox matched zeros in the first period so no score is showing on the Mariucci Arena scoreboard after twenty minutes of play. With 17:35 left in the second period, Michael Brodzinski scored to make it 1-0 Golden Gophers. With 11:31 left in the second period, Joe Wilson scored his second goal of the season to tie the game 1-1. With 4:46 left in the second period, Darcy Murphy scored his ninth goal of the season to make it 2-1 Raiders. Finn and Wilcox matched zeros for the remainder of the period so 2-1 Colgate remains our score heading to the second intermission. With 9:29 left in the third period, Travis Boyd scored to tie the game 2-2. Finn and Wilcox matched zeros for the remainder of regulation time so we'll play extra hockey because of a 2-2 tie between Colgate and number one ranked Minnesota. Finn and Wilcox matched zeros in overtime so we'll play an unforeseen shootout because of that same 2-2 tie between the Raiders and the Gophers. Two of three Raider shooters score in the shootout and Colgate beats the number one team in America in the shootout 3-2 but goes down as a 2-2 tie in the rankings. Colgate shifted to 7-9-3 on the season.
