Selection Sunday passes and a certain team from Central New York didn't make the cut for the NCAA Tournament. This means that Spiro Goulakos' collège hockey career will be coming to an end effective immediately. Spiro and his teammates played inspired hockey all season long and it just stinks that it has to end with a heartbreaking loss to Harvard. Spiro fought so hard to get the team to ECAC Hockey championship three out of four seasons of being on campus in Hamilton which not a lot of people can say they've done. Colgate University will more than certainly miss Spiro Goulakos because he did everything he could to deliver Colgate a championship in more ways than one.
Spiro's legacy will be cemented as one of the greatest captains and players in program history and his legacy lives in Hamilton to this day even as he lives in Canada. Goulakos was the best person for this book because he very well earned this book! In my humble but correct opinion, Spiro Goulakos' number should never be worn again by a Colgate hockey player for his contributions to Colgate and the surrounding community while he skated on the Starr Rink ice in maroon and white!
I hope you enjoyed Spiro Goulakos' Colgate hockey journey as we explored what it took to play college hockey at its highest levels. I hope you learned something from Spiro or just found him entertaining like I did as a young lad. Thank you for reading and join me as we close out the story!
