On April 8,2013, Colgate men's hockey named their captains for the upcoming 2013-14 season and gave out awards for outstanding performances this past season. Wouldn't you know it, mister Spiro Goulakos was named Colgate captain for the 2013-14 season along with winning multiple team awards despite missing ten games due to his prior diagnosis back in January. Spiro Goulakos was considered most deserving of the captaincy because of his perseverance and teamwork throughout the first two seasons of his maroon and white journey and it should continue into Spiro's junior season should he decide to continue his college hockey career.
Spiro enters the second half of his Colgate career as part of Colgate's leadership core and it was honestly anticipated that Spiro's perseverance would someday pay off. Spiro is a player that everyone should behold for his fight through adversity day in and day out on and off the ice. The French Canadian will look to build on his legend status here in Hamilton as his career continues in a few weeks time as he becomes the Hamiltonian captain for the upcoming season. Goulakos enters his junior season with a reputation as a strong option on both sides of the puck as the Raiders chase their first ECAC title since 1990.
So, Spiro Goulakos is now Colgate's captain and now, he will look to lead Colgate to greatness in his tenure as Colgate captain. This story has been a ton of fun to write and it's only just begun and I can't wait to see how Spiro's career continues to progress over the final two seasons. Raider nation excitedly awaits the captaincy of Spiro Goulakos for the next two season as he leads the Raiders the next two years like I said earlier in this chapter. So, can Colgate thrive under Spiro's leadership? Find out as we venture into a new season of Colgate hockey in due time.
