*ARO POV
Aro was still mingling in his chambers. He officially offered a price on Y/N's head to Viktor and did not feel one ounce of remorse. Aro needed the tomes the northern covens took from Volturi centuries ago. He knew this would be the only chance they would get to recovering the tomes without a full fledge war breaking out. Aro was not keen on backing down. Let alone was he ever known for giving up. No matter how great the cost.
Aro was drunk on thought about the trial approaching in the morning. He had to exile a vampire who revealed himself and the vampire society to a group of mortals in a near by town. He would have to send Jane and a few others to scout the mortals and execute them before things got out of hand.
He poured himself a goblet of blood-wine that was sitting on top his desk and leaned back in the chair that occupied his studies. That's when someone knocked on his chamber door.
"Come in" he commanded in a cheerful tone. Caius entered the room and signaled his hand if it were ok for him to sit in the chair across from Aro. Aro nodded his head and gestured for him to sit. "Marcus and a few coven members have been questioning your judgement form today." Caius mentioned. His voice was a bit wavering, he could not tell how Aro would react in most conversations. He was hard to read and you never truly knew his emotions.
"Please indicate which one, as I command multiple trials a day." Aro responded in a snarky reply. "The witch, why are you keeping her here. She unlawfully attempted treason to the Volturi. She is not worthy of your graciousness." Caius said in an honest and dumbfounded tone.
That is when Aro felt fire rise in his crimson irises. "Are you questioning my judgement Caius. I would hope your time is being spent more wisely than on what my reasonings are. Or are you believing me of incapable?" Aro responded in a low tone that gave a clear warning to Caius that he should not speak anymore. "However, if it is truly important to you, I will be trading Y/N to Viktor and his coven in the given days or weeks in exchange for our tomes." Aro said with very little interest while fidgeting with the papers on his desk. "Seriously? Our tomes? Do you believe Viktor will want her?" Caius was questioning the whole scenario. He does not know what all Aro saw in her mind. He innocently has no clue where Y/N came from.
With a distasteful smirk Aro gave a single reply while narrowing his eyes to Caius "Trust me friend, Viktor will be delighted to have Y/N in his presence." Caius took this as a signal it was time for him to leave and retire to his chambers to be with his wife Athenodora.
Caius got up from his seat and made his way across the room back to the door. As his hand grabbed the handle, Aro gave a warning reply that left Caius in bemusement. "The next time Marcus wants to get involved in my affairs, he is free to dabble by himself." Aro stated loudly while starting to write on a new sheet of parchment.
That is when Marcus who been in the corridor outside Aro's chambers removed his ear from the door and quietly took off with the information he acquired. From the tone of Aros voice on the last statement, he could not tell if Aro knew of his presence snooping or if he genuinely was tired of Caius pressing him with dumbfounded questions.
Marcus got the information he dearly desired. He knew this was the only shot he had to becoming the Volturi leader. All he had to do was get rid of Aro. He did not plan on a witch landing into their coven. But, all it did was expedite Marcus's plan. That is the gamble Marcus would be making very soon. As long as the witch was in Volterra, there was no way he could get rid of Aro. He could not have Aro become interested in the creature, he needed to dislike her and promise she would be gone from the premises soon. As soon as the northern coven got their beloved prisoner back. They would not hesitate to return the favor and help Marcus take over the Volturi and surrounding covens. Help him over throw the laws that been set forth for centuries. Allowing vampires, werewolves and creatures alike to feed on mortals however and whenever they wanted. Over taking the mortal race! He wants them to breed with other species and form hybrids to strengthen their coven. Marcus was well set on his plan and everything seemed to be working in his favor.
Marcus picked up his pace when he heard Caius leaving Aros chamber. The last thing he needed was to be caught snooping around Aros corridors. Especially could not be seen by any servants who may spread rumors. That kind of information being placed in the wrong hands could foil his plans.
Aro was relieved when Caius left his chamber. All he wanted was silence after dealing with boneheaded imbeciles all day. Especially those who questioned his authority and defied his laws.
That was when he decided he would lay in his bed for the night. Not because he could actually sleep. But it was the closest thing to mortality he could remember. This is where his thoughts lay at night. No matter how sadistic Aro is. This is where he unraveled himself every night. A part of Aro that could not be seen behind the crimson eyes. A part of himself that could never be seen by anyone else. Not ever. Aro has a coven to uphold and he can never be seen as weak and un worthy of the Volturi.
He was now having thoughts about Y/N. Remembering all the memories and thoughts within her head. Every eternally good, inferior and unpleasant memory. How small, soft and warm her hands felt in his.
Her delicate hands.
How could she delve into his mind when she had concealment bracelets on. Her magic was currently useless....Aro smirked at this detail. It definitely was Viktor who would create a cruel contrapment as that. Yes, he noticed the bracelets on her wrists and the nasty cuts they left on her skin underneath. Possibly from Y/N trying to get them off.
Aro was very keen on details. Even if his eyes haven't moved, he still saw everything.
Then he directed his thoughts to how she delved into his mind as well. She seen too much of his intellectual capabilities. His mind is a dangerous landscape. Especially someone as old as himself and the sadistic, callous and vicious actions he had consummated.
That night he ran his thoughts over and over again. Always coming around full spectrum to her hands.
Her small, soft, warm, mortal hands.
