Aro and Y/N stayed in the library. Both wondered to the settee where they laid together as they cuddled through the night. Y/N listened intently as Aro recounted tales of his human life; a time long forgotten yet still etched in his memory. He spoke of the lush green fields of his hometown, the laughter of children playing in the streets, and the warmth of his mother's embrace. Aro's voice held a hint of nostalgia as he described the simple joys of his past, a stark contrast to the immortal life he now led.
Then she asked a pressing question out of curiousness. They been asking each other questions, and she felt this was something she wanted to know. "Have you had any children?" she assumed since he lived for centuries before her, that he must've had a life. Of course he had many lovers as Athenodora informed her, and he had a relationship with a woman named Sulpicia. But did he have any children, any family?
Aro's expression shifted slightly at her question, a flicker of something unreadable passing through his crimson eyes. "No, my dear Y/N," he replied smoothly, his voice as velvety as ever. "I have never had the pleasure of fathering children. My devotion always lies with the Volturi. But I have seen many generations come and go, witnessed the passing of time through immortal eyes. It is a unique perspective, one that few can truly understand." Aro's gaze drifted elsewhere "Perhaps one day, I will experience the joys of fatherhood"
Y/N slightly blushed at his last comment. Y/N's heart skipped a beat at Aro's words. She could feel her cheeks burning as she tried to process what he had just said. one day he may? The idea of a future with Aro filled her with warmth and happiness. If they are truly mated to each other. Would that mean they would have children of their own?
Aro's mind was still on the question Y/N asked him. He couldn't believe what he replied. Now he was imagining what it would be like to have children with Y/N. She is his mate after all. Vampires couldn't have children with other vampires. However, Y/N is mortal, meaning he could possibly have children with her. As Aro pondered the idea of having children with Y/N, a warmth spread through his chest. Images of little ones with Y/N's eyes and his smile danced in his mind, filling him with a longing he had never experienced before. He imagined teaching them to play piano forte, showing them the beauty of the forest at dawn, maybe teach them the strategic game of chess and Y/N would sing sweet lullabies to them and teach them Medicinals while watching them grow into kind, strong individuals. 'Mortals' the word ringing in his head, would they be mortal? But, Aro was a monster he thought to himself. How would a monster like him be able to father children. Then it hit him. They couldn't have children together. It would be against the ancient laws. No hybrids between species was allowed, and Aro as the Volturi leader had to uphold these laws through the region covens.
The only way he could keep Y/N from baring his children is if he never had intercourse with her. It was already hard enough to contain himself around her. He had to shake the thought, focusing his thoughts on their continuous conversation.
As the night grew darker, Y/N found herself drawn to Aro's past, marveling at the humanity that once resided within him. They shared stories of their own upbringing, finding solace in each other's words. And in that moment, surrounded by shadows and whispers of the past, Aro and Y/N forged a bond that transcended time and species. For in each other's company, they found a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness that enveloped them both.
Aro's embrace enveloped Y/N as she drifted off to sleep. In the peaceful quiet of the night, the gentle rise and fall of their chest matched the rhythm of their breathing. The weight of the day's events slowly lifted from their shoulders, leaving behind only a sense of contentment and safety. As dawn approached, a soft light filtered through the dusty library curtains, casting a warm glow on their faces. Y/N stirred slightly, feeling Aro's steady heartbeat beneath her ear, and for a moment, all was right in the world.
She opened her eyes slowly, taking in the embrace of his arms around her. Feeling safe and content, she nestled closer to him, breathing in his familiar scent. Aro smiled down at her, brushing a stray strand of hair away from her face on the same side as her slowly disappearing cut.
"Good morning, my love," he whispered softly, his voice tinged with warmth and affection. Y/N smiled up at him, her heart full of love for the man who held her so tenderly.
"Good morning, Aro," she replied, her voice filled with happiness. In that moment, surrounded by the soft light of dawn and the love of her life.
Y/N then realized she fell asleep. Meaning she slept in Aro's arms while he stayed awake. Aro didn't sleep. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to keep you here" she said urgently. "I wanted to watch you" Aro replied as he placed a light kiss on her forehead.
"What time is it?" Y/N asked as she looked the room over in search of a clock. Aro noticed her eyes grazing the grand library. So, he pulled out his pocket watch and checked the time. "It is precisely 9:00 am" he indicated as he quickly tucked the watch back into his pocket.
"I need to get ready" Y/N stated urgently as she quickly got up from their position in the settee. This puzzled Aro. His eyes softly narrowed. "Where to?" he questioned with a lower tone in the back of his throat. "Athenodora insisted that I help her pick out a dress for the upcoming festival and ball" Y/N stated plainly as she started straightening herself out. "Sounds like a good plan, how about you pick out a dress as well" Aro said as he got up from the settee. "Well... I don't have a way of doing that..." Y/N dragged the words out. Aro understood what she meant. He knew she had no way of obtaining anything in her name.
"Tell them to send the receipt to the Volturi" Aro said with a serious demeanor. "the Volturi always pay their debts, they'll understand" Aro's eyes darkened. Y/N couldn't help but wonder what it meant. She knew the Volturi held Volterra fortunes under the fortress. They upheld the largest bank in the region.
"I will" Y/N stated as she gazed questioningly at Aro. Aro noticed her features and smiled with his wide crimson eyes. "Have a good day with Athenodora." Aro stated softly as he walked over to her. He placed his hand on her lower back and the other on the back of her head as he pulled her into a light romantic kiss. "I will be in trials all day. If you need me, do not hesitate" he stated with a low soft voice. Y/N nodded her head in agreement. Then she turned on her heels and left the grand library. She needed to get cleaned up and ready for the day.
