In the ethereal realm of sleep, Y/N found herself trapped in a haunting nightmare.

She was no longer in Aro's chamber, but a mere pawn in Viktor's cruel game. She was his servant, his slave, subject to his every whim and desire.

This was a memory of her past.

The nightmare unfolded with agonizing clarity. Viktor's icy stare bore into her, his words echoing in her mind like a death knell. "You are nothing but a tool for my pleasure. A plaything to be used and discarded at my will."

Y/N's body trembled with fear as she was forced to endure unspeakable horrors. She was whipped and beaten, her cries for mercy falling on deaf ears. She was forced to serve Viktor's every need, no matter how degrading or humiliating.

The weight of her chains grew heavier with each passing moment, suffocating her spirit. She longed for freedom, for the chance to escape her tormentor's clutches. But her pleas were met with only laughter, Viktor's cruel amusement echoing through the darkness.

His hate for her, his hate for witches.

As the nightmare reached its peak, Y/N felt herself breaking. Her body was battered and bruised; her mind shattered.

Suddenly, a glimmer of hope pierced through the darkness. A voice, soft and familiar, called out her name. It was the voice of Aro.

With renewed strength, Y/N fought against the nightmare's hold. She summoned all her remaining willpower and broke free from her chains. She stumbled and fell, but she refused to give up.

As she crawled towards the light, Viktor's laughter faded into silence. The nightmare dissipated, leaving Y/N trembling and shaken. But this time, she was not broken. She had faced her darkest fears and emerged from the depths of despair.

Aro's gentle voice cut through the silence.

"Y/N, my beloved," he whispered, his voice like a soft caress. "It is but a dream."

Y/N stirred, her body trembling as she gasped for breath. Her eyes, wide and filled with terror, frantically searched her surroundings until they met Aro's.

"Aro," she breathed, her voice weak. "I had such a terrible nightmare."

Aro's heart ached at the sight of her distress. He leaned forward and gently stroked her hair, his touch soothing and calming.

"I know, my love," he said. "But it is over now. You are safe with me."

Y/N closed her eyes, taking comfort in the warmth of his embrace. The nightmare's grip slowly loosened as Aro whispered words of reassurance into her ear.

"you were saying Viktor's name" he said.

Y/N nodded, her voice barely a whisper. "I couldn't escape it. It was closing in on me, getting closer and closer."

"But I found you," Aro whispered. "I will always find you."

Y/N opened her eyes and looked up at him. Her gaze was filled with both fear and gratitude.

Aro smiled, a gentle curve forming on his lips. Then he noticed Y/N was tucking herself more into the bed covers.

"You are cold" Aro stated. He got up off the bed and wondered to the fireplace across the room. He placed a few pieces of wood inside that was already unravelled on the floor by the wall. He crouched down and took a match from his pocket and lit it.

"Give it some time, it'll warm in here" Aro said as he dusted his hands on his pants and walked back over to the bed

"Give it some time, it'll warm in here" Aro said as he dusted his hands on his pants and walked back over to the bed. This time he did not get in bed, but he sat by Y/N's side.

He looked down upon Y/N and grasped her hands in his.

"My orchid, we need to talk" Aro stated in a soft voice.

Aro explained the difficulty of their relationship. How they had to keep it a secret. Especially around the Volturi and Marcus in particular. Their species are not allowed to mate and because Y/N is a witch, meaning it would be a death sentence.

Not only did Aro explain the intricate details of their relationship, but he also explained rules to Y/N for her safety. Deep down Aro was scared and feared for her life.

As Aro explained the rules to Y/N, she listened intently, her heart beating a little faster with each word he spoke. The secrecy of their relationship weighed heavily on her mind, but she knew it was necessary to protect them both. She nodded, promising to abide by the rules he had set in place.

After their conversation Aro placed a gentle kiss upon Y/N's hand.

"Now, back to bed" Aro stated as he got up from the bed.

"Where are you going?" Y/N asked urgently. not realizing she sat up fast.

"I am only going to my desk dear; I have trial papers to prepare for this afternoon" Aro spoke

"Oh, ok " Y/N said as she gently laid back down.

only Y/N could not fall back asleep, she was watching him. Aro was at his desk and writing on parchment intricately with his quill. She was mesmerized how his attention was drawn to each page. His hands working diligently across the paper.

Without realization, after hours of watching Aro work at his desk. She finally drifted back to sleep.

Aro looked up from his desk after spending countless hours on the parchment laid inform of him on the desk. His eyes landed on Y/N who was laying in his bed.

He couldn't help but stop his work and have his thoughts drift on Y/N.

As Aro sat alone in his dimly lit study, his mind was consumed with worries about Y/N and their relationship. He couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled in his chest ever since their last conversation. Mostly about their relationship and the rules he placed on her. The doubt crept in like a shadow, whispering cruel thoughts that made his heart ache.

He loves Y/N. she is his mate. After centuries of his ancient heart still beating. He wanted to settle down and be with his mate. Deep down Aro was tired of the consecutive days spent running volturi. Upholding the Ancient laws and he could never erase his cruel past.

Aro shook off his thoughts and moved his attention back to his work. He only had mere hours until he was needed in the grand trial hall.
