Y/N's heart echoed with an emptiness that gnawed at her soul. Days had turned into nights since she had last laid eyes upon Aro. Once their bond had crackled with an intensity that illuminated their eternal existence, but now it had dwindled to a flicker.

Y/N's thoughts raced, searching for a reason for Aro's sudden withdrawal. Of course, she knew he was avoiding her and what had transpired. But she needed him.

She had tried reaching out to him telepathically, but her messages were met with an impenetrable barrier. Aro had erected a wall around his mind, effectively cutting her off from the connection they once shared. It was as if he had become a stranger, a ghost haunting the halls of their former sanctuary.

Time seemed to stand still as Y/N waited for any sign of Aro. She haunted the library, poring over ancient texts. This helped her find solitude. She wandered through the gardens, seeking solace in the beauty of the blooming roses. But Aro remained elusive, a shadow that danced just beyond her reach.

Unfortunately, she had to live with reality. She had to keep moving forward and assumed Aro would appear when he was good and ready.

However, today she had to focus on herself. She was to meet with Carlisle today. He was arriving to check on her wounds and perform his usual check up on Aro.

Suddenly her chamber door opened. Y/N moved back into her chamber temporarily. In came Carlisle with his usual med bag. "My apologies for the delay," Carlisle said softly, his voice a soothing balm. "I was attending to another matter."

Y/N nodded, her eyes meeting his. "It's alright" she spoke with a warm smile.

Carlisle walked over and gently lifted her head. She was now looking at the ornate ceiling. The cuts on her neck from Aro's nails were healing.

"This will take some time to heal," Carlisle said, his voice smooth. Then he reached to her wrist as she lifted it. He began to unwound her bandage. He made her move her wrists around as he moved his fingers delicately along her hand. "Looks like your wrist is fully healed, Y/N"

Y/N nodded again. "Thank you."

"Is there anything you need before I leave?" Carlisle asked as he walked over to the trash bin and threw out her old bandage that once covered her wrist.

"Actually... yes" Her voice slightly quivered. Carlisle noticed the sudden change. "Is everything okay?" he asked her with narrowed eyes. "Actually, I am not sure" she added. "you can tell me anything" Carlisle was serious and spoke with concern. "I.. ummm" she was stalling, she did not know how to begin the conversation.

"I am with child" she finally blurted out. Her face grew red in embarrassment. "With child?" Carlisle's brows raised. "Yes" Y/N looked away and pulled her attention down to her hands. Carlisle noticed she was uncomfortable. "come" he smiled as he made her lay down on the bed.

Carlisle started to feel around her abdomen. "Have you been having any complications?" Carlisle asked. "I felt sharp pains when I was running down the corridor" she explained. Carlisle knew the whole story about what transpired. He decided not to mention anything else about that day.

"Well, everything looks good." Carlisle smiled to her. "And the pains you felt are completely normal, but don't be running about these corridors anymore" he smirked playfully at her. Y/N couldn't help but fall for Carlisle's giggles whenever he was around Volturi

"Is there a way to know how far along I am?" she asked with slight worry to hr tone. "You seem to be around 3 1/2 months. give or take" Carlisle spoke as if he was questioning his own answer.

"Already!" she spoke. This surprised Carlisle. "I take you are not happy about this" Carlisle asked. "I am happy, I just can't have Aro find out" she added. "I see" he spoke softly. "if you talk to Aro, I am sure he would be thrilled, it may even give him a reason to stop hiding from daylight" Carlisle gave a knowing glance. "The Volturi cannot know, the child will be a hybrid, it is forbidden ancient law" she quickly added. Almost a slight panic in her voice. Carlisle understood. He knew the Volturi laws and way of life. He used to roam with them.

"Y/N" he began. His eyes piercing hers. "Centuries before you were born, possibly longer than that" Carlisle laughed slightly. Y/N listened intently. "Vampires and witches mated between their species. Only Witches could conceive children for the vampires. Especially heirs to the Volturi." he explained. His words smooth as caramel.

"But I thought it was dangerous for mortals to conceive immortal off spring?" she questioned him. "Yes, but witches are not just mortal. They have immortal blood" he explained further. "You will have a healthy pregnancy, Y/N. But I do urge you to speak with Aro" He continued. "How can I speak to someone who is hiding from me, I don't even know where he is" she felt doomed from the start. "Actually, I can tell you where. I just visited with him before coming to see you" Carlisle gave her a knowing look. "Where?" she quickly asked. "He is in the room above the second dining hall" Carlisle answered her.

Y/N quickly understood what room he was talking about. It was the hidden room where she ran into Marcus. "Thank you" she hugged Carlisle before leaving the chamber to make her way there.

Carlisle only smiled as he watched her leave. Y/N reminded him of his family back home. She was genuine and made Carlisle smile every time he came to Volturi. She was one of the reasons he even bothered returning.

Y/N needed to see Aro, and she was determined to find him up in the room.
