In a realm where danger lurks and ancient powers reign, Y/N was going to embark on a perilous adventure that would forever alter her destiny...

Y/N awoken at the midst of night. She ached as she attempted moving and stretching her arms and legs before crouching her way out of the hidden nook she made into her comforting oasis just four hours ago. Y/N exited her nook under the tree trunk and looked straight towards the night sky. There were too many stars to witness with just a pair of eyes. The moon tonight was a blood moon in full force. What a coincidence she thought to herself.

Y/N marched her way through overgrown forest until she came upon an opening. As she approached the opening, she witnessed lights and sounds coming from a town. Stepping out of the lush greenery of the forest, Y/N emerged into an unexpected sight. Before her lay the ancient walled city of Volterra, its imposing architecture and rich history unfolding before her eyes.

Y/N knew about Volterra from her diligence in her own studies and curiosity from over hearing Viktor's conversations about the covens. As she approached the massive city walls, she couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. The walls surrounding the city, with their imposing towers and battlements guarding its secrets.

However, tonight did not seem like any other night in Volterra. There seemed to be a celebration tonight. Everyone was wearing red cloaks. Everything was booming in noise, from laughing, talking, kids yelling and those partying nearby. There was a group standing before a large fire from the corner of her eye. This was a celebration of the people.

Y/N felt like a marble in a bag of rice. Everyone was in sync and matching compared to her. This was not a safe place for her. Any vampire or Death Dealer could spot her out here. She decided to embark through the labyrinth of narrow cobblestone streets that wound their way through the city. The buildings, adorned with medieval arches and ornate facades, whispered tales of a bygone era.

Continuing her exploration, she stumbled upon the Roman Amphitheater, an impressive relic from Volterra's ancient past. There she spotted a few tables and those offering services. This must've been where individuals made sales to tourists during this celebratory event. Y/N came across a man offering a passage through the seas to another unforeseen landscape. The compelled Y/N to approach him. At this point she felt desperate to leave and never return.

"Excuse me sir, if I may, I overheard your conversation with the previous man. How much are you charging for safe passage?" Y/N said quickly to the alarming gentleman. "You ought to not be meddling in other conversations ma'am, for there are others among us that are not as forgiving. Especially if you overhear what you ought not supposed to hear". The man replied. He sounded as if he were from Glasgow Scotland. Y/N was familiar with his accent from all her travels with Viktor to accompanying covens.

Y/N was silent for a moment as she was picking through her next words carefully. However, the gentleman spoke before she could mutter her next words. "If you are seeking passage, we are leaving by daylight. It is 2,000 in centesimo." The man turned and left her standing there. Y/N took this as a warning that he would leave with or without her. She only had a few short hours left of night before it was dawn.
