Aro and Y/N returned to Volturi. There was tremendous amounts of devastating destruction that needed to be mended. As both Aro and Y/N entered through the main ancient double doors, Aro quickly grasped Y/N's hand and halted her to a stop.

"Y/N" Aro spoke her name, as if he were pleading praise. Y/N looked into his crimsons and squeezed his chilled porcelain hand. "Yes, Aro" she replied. She was curious yet worried about his sudden stop at the doors. She knew things would take time to mend.

Aro then let out a breath and his eyes softly fell to the sight of her hand in his. That is when he began rubbing circles on her skin with his thumbs. Y/N was. used to this reaction from her mate. She always admired how soft his touch was, especially from his cold, slender, porcelain fingers. Somehow her warmth mingled with his cold. Causing a sensual feeling.

"Y/N" He began again. "I need to make sure you understand, make sure you are okay before we enter. You deserve to know what to expect"

Y/N narrowed her eyes. "Understand you are returning as the enigmatic Volturi leader" she spoke softly. Her voice resonating a question rather than a statement. She understood what was expecting, though she did not understand where Aro was going with this sudden discussion.

Aro let out a breath, as if he were nervous. "Precisely" his crimsons met her eyes. His stare intense with unspoken words. As if he were searching for a reaction. "I must return as the leader I once was." Y/N nodded. "I understand Aro, you have to wear that mast to keep order." she replied before he could continue. Her statement was a surprise to him.

"I must, Y/N. The mask I must wear is one that seals peace and keeps order, it maintains ancient law. As we have witnessed.... ancient law must always be in place." he was squeezing her hand at this point. "I will never hurt you, Y/N. I will never wear that mask with you...." he began to stutter the next part. However, Y/N pulled him in to her as she embraced him in a soft kiss. He then moved his hand to cradle her cheek.

"Y/N ?" he questioned by the sudden surprise as he pulled back slightly to study her features. "You do not need to worry, Aro. I am your mate and I understand your role. I will always stay by your side" she smiled. Aro could one return the smile and brushed his thumb on her cheek. "Shall we? my orchid" he gestured his hand for them to continue forward and enter the trial hall.

The room was heavy with tension as Aro paced before the gathered crowd. Caius and Athenodora taking back their usual spots behind their leader. The shadows clung to the ornate walls of the Volturi's room, their intricately carved stone reflecting an era long past—an era where power consolidated meant something more than just strength; it was an ebb and flow of death and life, of justice and tyranny.

Y/N stood beside Aro, feeling the weight of the moment pressing upon their shoulders. The flicker of torches cast dancing lights across their face, revealing their resolute expression. They had returned to  Volturi under the weight of darkness that once lingered under Marcus's rule.

Across the room, those who once followed Marcus, their faces pale but resolute, believing once it was all over, their souls would transcend into something greater. feeling a surge of anguish mix with a steely resolve. They had tried to reason with some of these individuals, tried to ignite the flicker of hope that peace could prevail without bloodshed. But this was not some romantic tale of diplomacy; this was a reckoning.

Aro's voice broke through their brooding thoughts, smooth yet commanding. "You have betrayed us. You have walked hand in hand with the specter of Marcus, who sought to dismantle our way of life. For every choice made, consequences must follow." His eyes glowed with a predatory light, unyielding, as he pointed to those at the front.

Y/N's heart ached as she met the eyes of the individuals that once were Volturi before following Marcus.

"Aro," she began, voice steady yet laced with emotion. "I understand what must be done. The peace of our world depends on it, and I know all too well what rebellion can yield." They locked eyes with each other, sorrow etched into their features. "But maybe... there is another way."

Aro's expression hardened, a predator cornered. "do not cloud your judgment. This can only end one way, Y/N." Yet, Y/N could feel the internal strife within him, a crack in the otherwise unyielding facade.

They turned back to the crowd, trying to sense even the faintest ripple of solidarity, a chance for compromise. "Are we truly so far gone that death must be the only resolution? Can we not find another path?" Y/N continued.
