Aro looked up to Y/N's face. He seen all he needed. He watched as Y/N slowly opened her eyes and looked up upon his.
"You should have told me the moment it happened" He stated. His eyes full of worry and his tone soft.
"I'm sorry" Y/N said in a quiet voice as she turned her head away.
"Look at me" Aro placed his hand on Y/N's chin and made her turn to look at him.
"Do not allow his words to scare you from ever speaking to me, I am the head of the Volturi, not him" Aro said as his gaze darkened. Y/N couldn't help but melt in his gaze.
A low growl risen from Aro's throat.
Aro then got up from the bench and placed his hands behind his back as he began to pace the room. His eyes as if they were searching for something.
Y/N could only sit on the bench and watch his movements.
Y/N continued her watch on Aro's pacing with a mixture of fear and fascination. She can see the anger vibrating off him like waves of heat, his usually calm demeanor shattered into a million pieces.
She decided to rise from the bench and walked over to where Aro was pacing. She reached out tentatively, resting a hand on his arm to try and calm him down.
"Aro, please," she implored softly, her eyes searching his for any sign of recognition. But he seems lost in his own world, his mind consumed by thoughts of vengeance against Marcus for daring to lay a hand on Y/N.
As Aro continued to pace, Y/N stood her ground, her heart pounding in her chest. She knows the darkness that lurks within him when he is pushed too far. She witnessed this in the Volturi trials and by gossip within this fortress.
Suddenly, Aro stopped in front of her, his eyes blazing with determination. "I will not let anyone harm you," he declared, his voice low and dangerous. "Marcus will pay for his transgressions, he shall not lay a hand on my 'mate' again" he declared as his crimson gaze pierced through Y/N.
There it was. His declaration of who she was to him. He hadn't realized he stated it just then. The words just melted off his tongue.
Y/N's face froze. As if a wall just appeared in front of her. That is when Aro noticed her expression and what he just said.
his mate
Y/N felt her heart skip a beat at Aro's declaration. She looked deep into his mesmerizing eyes, seeing a mixture of desire and determination swirling within them. The weight of his words lingered in the air, wrapping around her like a warm embrace.
Aro reached out to gently cup her face, his touch sending shivers down her spine. "I have waited centuries for you," he whispered, his voice filled with sincerity. "You are the missing piece of my soul, my mate."
He was standing over her, his gaze searching her eyes.
Y/N's mind raced as she tried to process the magnitude of what Aro was saying. She had always felt a connection to him since she arrived in Volturi, a pull that she couldn't quite explain. And now, standing before her, he was baring his heart and soul, laying everything on the line for her.
Without hesitation, Y/N placed her hand over Aro's, intertwining their fingers. A surge of warmth flooded through her at the contact, even though his hands were freezing cold, confirming what she had suspected all along.
"I've loved you from the moment our paths crossed," he whispered, his eyes full of tenderness.
"I love you" Y/N declared
Aro's eyes widened in surprise at Y/N's confession. His heart raced with a mixture of joy and disbelief. "You... you love me too?" he stammered, hardly daring to believe his ears.
Y/N nodded, a soft smile playing on her lips. "Yes, Aro. I love you"
" Y/N. I love you more than words can express. I have waited countless centuries for you Mia Cara Orchidea (my dear orchid)" Aro whispered to her
"But you can't love me" Aro added as his eyes moved to their hands. his face turning to disappointment and uncertainty.
"Aro, why do you say that?" Y/N's voice trembled as she looked into his eyes.
Aro sighed, the weight of his words heavy in the air. "Because I am not capable of love, Y/N. My heart is as cold and unfeeling as stone. To love me would only bring you pain and suffering. I am a cold blood thirsty vampire, and I will eventually hurt you"
Y/N's heart sank as Aro's words echoed in her mind. The reality of their situation hit her like a ton of bricks, weighing heavily on her chest.
As she investigated Aro's ageless eyes, she saw the pain reflected in them, mirroring her own turmoil. She reached out a trembling hand to touch his cold cheek, a single tear escaping down her own.
"And I am a witch" Y/N stated.
Aro looked up at her from her statement. "Our species are forbidden to cross" Aro stated.
"I can't change how I feel," Y/N whispered, her voice barely above a whisper. "I love you, Aro. And I don't care about the consequences."
"You could get hurt" Aro's voice a shattered tone.
Y/N only looked into his eyes.
Aro closed his eyes for a moment, as if battling an internal struggle. When he opened them again, there was a mixture of resignation and longing in his gaze.
"You don't understand," he said softly "If something happens to you because of me, I could not forgive myself." Aro continued.
Aro was trying to conceal his full feelings. He had to contain himself. Damn it, he couldn't anymore. The way Y/N's eyes looked at him. her soft voice. her soft hands in his.
her soft, warm, mortal hands
"Do you take me as I am?" Aro abruptly said to Y/N. his eyes now wide seeking through her eyes. As if her eyes were the window to her soul.
"Aro..." Y/N started softly.
"Do you accept the monster that I am?" Aro eagerly asked.
"I do, Aro. Mortal or immortal" Y/N said as she looked into his eyes.
That is when Aro placed a hand on her waist and the other he caressed her cheek. He swiftly pulled her towards him as he leaned down to bring his lips softly on hers.
As Aro's lips met Y/N's, a rush of emotions flooded through her. The kiss was electric, sending shivers down her spine. She felt a warmth spreading from her heart to every inch of her body. In that moment, nothing else existed except for the two of them, lost in the intensity of their connection. Time seemed to stand still as they embraced, their passion igniting like a flame that refused to be extinguished. And as they pulled away, their eyes locked in a silent promise of what was yet to come.
Y/N and Aro's foreheads were touching as they held each other's hands in front of them. Aro's thumb dancing circles upon her skin.
"Come with me to my chambers tonight, it is not safe for you to be by yourself" Aro said softly.
Y/N only nodded in agreement.
Aro still holding her hands led her out the door and down the corridors.
They reached his chamber and entered the threshold.
As Y/N settled into Aro's chambers, she couldn't shake the feeling of unease that lingered within her. The safety he promised felt like a fragile facade, and the air was thick with tension. She could sense his gaze on her, studying her every move with a predatory intensity that sent shivers down her spine.
But amidst the fear and uncertainty, there was something else stirring within her. A primal instinct that recognized Aro as more than just a leader or protector. He was her mate, bound to her in a way that defied logic and reason. And as their eyes met in a silent exchange of recognition, she knew that their fates were irrevocably intertwined.
Despite the dangers that loomed outside the walls of his chambers, Y/N felt a strange sense of belonging in Aro's presence. And as he moved closer, his touch igniting a fierce hunger within her, she made a choice that sealed their bond for eternity.
She accepted him.
Not just as a man, but as a vampire.
