In the heart of Volturi's ethereal gardens, where the scent of blooming roses mingled with the soft whisper of leaves, a profound sadness hung in the air. For days and nights, Y/N's grief had cast a shadow over the tranquil oasis.
Aro watched silently from a distance. He was on the other side of the garden near the entrance. Luckily there was enough overgrowth from the shrubbery and bushes to keep her sights off him. His piercing gaze followed her every movement as she wandered aimlessly among the vibrant blooms. Once, he had walked these paths with her, their laughter echoing through the garden. Though, it was not his laughter. It was the attempt of laughter. The only sound he adored within those gardens were her mortal laughs. Now, he yearned for her presence, but a barrier of unspoken words kept them apart.
Y/N's sorrow was a constant torment for Aro. He observed her as she lingered by the marble fountain, her tears mingling with the falling water. Her pain was a mirror reflecting his own, a reminder of the love they had shared and the fate that had torn them asunder.
Aro's resolve faltered. He could no longer bear to watch her suffer in silence. With cautious steps, he turned to leave. As soon as he turned, he caught sight of Caius standing afar with his arms crossed and leaning against the threshold. "Caius, I did not see you there" Aro spoke. His eyes appearing in shock from Caius's sighting. "Don't worry, I won't say anything" Caius simply spoke. He then uncrossed his arms and stood straight. "You still care for her, that is all that matters" Caius added then he walked by and gave a pat on Aro's shoulder before continuing. Aro glanced at him suspiciously before shaking the thought and continuing back inside the volturi walls.
Aro continued through the corridors until he reached the only place he could erase the vision of her. The library. He needed the comfort of his leather bounds, and he had work to get done for the upcoming trial. However, his mind still replayed her graceful, fragile, mortal figure. The figure he watched in the garden. The way her hips swayed with each fragile step. His fangs wanted to appear on their own from the thought. but he had to fight the urge. He had work to get done. He began to curse himself. Why did he allow her to leave her chamber. Why did he send word from the guards to allow her to leave her chamber. Of course, only to certain areas of the Volturi. But now he was damned. He was doomed, seeing her in these areas. The same areas he enjoyed solitude with her. Aro knew he was damned, and he would continue to savor it.
Caius continued through the garden path as he approached Y/N who was crouched down cutting a piece of a plant. "Y/N" he spoke lightly. This caused Y/N to jump from her spot. Apparently, she did not notice his approach and it shocked her. "Caius" she yelled. Her voice slightly shivered as she took a step back. "No need t frighten, I am not here on the Volturi's behalf." Caius reassured. Y/N took a deep breath, but Caius still sensed she did not trust his words alone. "I came searching for you, Dr. Cullen is awaiting you" Caius informed. Y/N narrowed her eyes. "For me? what for?" she questioned him. "I am not sure about the reasoning. Though, Aro ordered for him to come and check on you" he continued. Y/N was shocked that Aro would send Carlisle Cullen to check on her. Was it possible he still cared? She was not sure. Y/N nodded "Thank you, I'll head there now" She spoke softly. Caius smiled then turned to leave. He needed to find his mate Athenodora.
Y/N stood there in the silent garden. Her mind couldn't comprehend why Aro would send for him. The last time she seen Aro was days again in the trial hall. The monster sent for a doctor. Was it because he truly cared or was he prepping her for Viktor. With not a clue, she swallowed deep and took her time back inside.
Y/N made her way down the massive corridors until she reached her chamber. There she noticed the door was slightly opened. She slowly opened it as it creaked. Her slow steps following inside while her eyes searched cautiously. There was Carlisle. He was standing by the window with his medical bag wide open. His head digging through the compartments. "ahh, Y/N" he smiled up at Y/N. "Carlisle... I was not expecting you" she replied as she fully entered the room and closed the door behind her. "No, you didn't, Aro urgently informed me to come and check on you" Carlisle explained. "Check on me?" She questioned. "Yes, you and the baby" Carlisle indicated as he hand signaled her to sit down at the chair by the window. Y/N nodded and took her seat.
"Now, I've been informed you been having sharp pains" Carlisle informed. "Yes, I have been" Y/N raised an eyebrow. How did Carlisle know this? No one else knew about her pregnancy, except for Aro and Athenodora. Especially Carlisle of course. But no one else knew and they definitely did not know about her recent pains. Let alone Aro. Then it dawned on her. How did Aro know?
"Well, mostly in the morning and when I am walking about" She continued her explanation. "I see" Carlisle spoke. Y/N kept her seat in the chair as Carlisle asked her more questions. Mostly about her daily routine and what she been eating and if she been having any other pains or another abnormal possibility. He even checked her heart and listened to her stomach.
"Everything is good" Carlisle smiled as he closed his medical bag. "However, I urge you to slow down. I want you resting as much as possible. No more long walks about this 'place" he gestured to the building with open arms. Y/N giggled lightly at his gesture. "Yes, got it" she replied. "If you don't mind me asking. How are things between you and Aro?" he finally asked. The one question she did not want to hear. She was trying hard these past few days to not cry. Though, Carlisle noticed her eyes attempting to water. "Aro would not answer me when I arrived about you" he added and kept his eyes on her.
"We are in a tough patch right now. Apparently, I am a prisoner here and Aro is listening to misinformation. " Y/N finally spoke up. "Hmm, sounds like Aro is following Volturi orders" he stated. Y/N only nodded and rubbed her palm against her eye as she tried looking away. She couldn't stand looking Carlisle in the eyes, afraid she would burst out crying.
"If you ever need anything, call me." He stated and placed a hand on hers. Y/N couldn't help by smile slightly up at him. Yet, she still felt conflicted. "Ok" she spoke. Carlisle then removed his hand and picked up his bag and made his way out. He gave a final glance at Y/N before he shut the door.
Y/N felt the weight of emptiness suddenly hit her. The silence returned to the chamber and was consuming her. She truly was alone now.
Aro continued his search through immersive leather bounds. His crimsons grazing each sentence and letter. He needed to find information on the Lycan's. He had one in the dungeons below. He had a crucial decision to be made by morning.
He continued his informative search for hours. Each book stacking upon stack on the wooden table. Then Aro began coughing. He covered his coughing fit with his sleeve. Which, he looked upon and noticed the blood. His sickness been getting worse though the days. Each day bringing the mere glimpse of death upon him. Somedays he wished he were dead. For he would no longer suffer the pain of losing his mate, nor would he have to keep enduring the dreadful sickness. Aro then got up and left the library. He needed to shack the feeling.
Darkness was enveloping the windows through the corridor as he drifty made his way through. Yet, he was not heading for the trial room, nor was he approaching his chamber. He couldn't bear the thought of being in that room again. He was consumed with the thought of something else. Something far more important. He was heading to see Y/N. But he was not to be seen or heard of. He been a preying eye every night since the incident in the trail room. His crimsons keeping hold of her.
He was heading there now, and he would stay until dawn broke.
