Y/N spent her day with Athenodora, they shared tea together in the Volturi gardens and walked through the winding streets of Volterra.
The ancient buildings casting long shadows in the waning afternoon light. Y/N couldn't help but feel a sense of peace as she listened to Athenodora's stories of centuries past. The vampire had a way of weaving words that made even the mundane seem extraordinary.
As they passed by a quaint little bakery, Y/N caught the scent of freshly baked bread and pastries wafting through the air. Athenodora smiled knowingly and steered her towards the door.
"Let's indulge ourselves, shall we?" she said with a twinkle in her eye.
Y/N couldn't resist the temptation and followed Athenodora into the cozy bakery. The warm aroma enveloped them as they perused the displays of decadent treats. They ended up sitting by a sunlit window, savoring their desserts in comfortable silence.
They even went exploring the ancient cobblestone streets and hidden passageways of the historic Italian city. Athenodora was a captivating guide, her knowledge of Volterra's rich history and folklore seemingly endless. As they wandered through the shadowed alleys, Y/N couldn't help but feel a sense of both wonder and unease. There was an air of mystery that clung to the ancient buildings, as if they held secrets dating back centuries.
Athenodora led Y/N to a secluded courtyard tucked away from the bustling main square, where a lone fountain tinkled softly in the afternoon sun. With a knowing smile, Athenodora turned to Y/N and whispered, "There is something I must show you."
Athenodora took Y/N by the hand as they both took off down the alleyway.
As the sun began to dip below the horizon, they found themselves standing before a grand cathedral, its spires reaching up towards the darkening sky. With a solemn nod, Athenodora led Y/N inside, where the air was heavy with incense and the sound of chanting filled the space.
As Y/N stood in the grand cathedral, she felt her breath catch in her throat. The kaleidoscope of colors streaming through the stained-glass windows bathed the space in a warm, ethereal glow. Every intricate detail of the architecture seemed to whisper of centuries past, of stories untold and secrets kept within its ancient stone walls.
Y/N couldn't help but feel a sense of reverence wash over her as she gazed up at the towering ceiling, adorned with elaborate carvings that seemed to reach towards the heavens themselves. It was a place of both breathtaking beauty and quiet contemplation, and Y/N knew in that moment that she would carry the memory of this cathedral with her for the rest of her days.
"This is absolutely beautiful" Y/N stated in awe as she looked upon the stained glass.
"Maybe you can convince Aro to marry you here" Athenodora said with a smile
"Marry? We only spoken a few times" Y/N gave Athenodora a questioning glance.
"You both are mated; it is only knowledge that you'll both be getting married." Athenodora added.
"Are vampires and witches even allowed to get married?" Y/N asked
"Well, there is always hopeful thinking." Athenodora only smiled at Y/N. Deep down she knew it was forbidden for their two species to intertwine.
"Alway think positive Y/N" Y/N only smiled at this and gave a reassuring nod. "We must make our way back" she continued.
Athenodora and Y/N made their way through the cobble streets as they headed back to the Volturi fortress. It has grown dark out since they started their journey into town earlier. Everything was silent. The only sound was crickets in the night and the air flowing through the corridors of Volturi when they opened the grand doors.
"I plan on seeing you tomorrow" Athenodora said as she gave Y/N a quick hug and turned down a different corridor to head to her chambers. More than likely to meet her dear Caius in those chambers.
Y/N only watched as Athenodora disappeared from her sight. Leaving her in the main lobby by herself. Everything was dark except for the few candles lighting up the corridors sparingly.
Y/N was hurrying down the corridors, thinking about racing to her chambers and slamming the large door shut and shoving her chair to jam it. She did not want to stay in the dark shadows of these halls by herself any longer than needed.
That is until she heard a familiar sound.
The sound of a piano playing.
She paused, her heart pounding in her chest. The haunting melody drifted through the air, drawing her in like a siren's call. Against her better judgment, she followed the sound, the notes growing louder with each step. As she reached the end of the corridor, she found herself standing in front of a grand room. The room was dimly lit, shadows dancing on the walls as the piano played on its own. Y/N hesitated, unsure whether to retreat or step inside and uncover the source of the music. With a deep breath, she crossed the threshold, her eyes scanning the room for any sign of another presence.
That is until she saw him.
She saw Aro sitting at the piano-forte.
Y/N watched in awe as Aro's fingers danced effortlessly across the keys of the piano forte, producing a hauntingly beautiful melody that filled the room. The soft notes seemed to weave a spell around, drawing her into the music with a magnetic pull.
Y/N couldn't tear her gaze away, captivated by the raw emotion that Aro poured into his playing. It was as if each note held a piece of his soul, laid bare for all to see in the delicate trill of the music. As the final chord echoed through the air, Y/N felt a shiver run down their spine, touched by the sheer power of Aro's talent.
Aro hasn't noticed Y/N standing by the doorway
