Aro entered the chamber after his conversation with Marcus. There was a glow to the room, caused by the multiple candles in flame through the night's darkness. Aro's piercing gaze swept over the bedchamber. Shadows danced across the crimson velvet curtains, casting an otherworldly aura upon the scene.
As he approached the bed, his heart skipped a beat. There, amidst the silken sheets, lay his beloved orchid, Y/N. Her hair cascading over her shoulders like a silken waterfall, and her skin glowed with an ethereal radiance.
Her slumber was deep, her breathing soft and rhythmic. Aro decided to change out of his trial attire and replaced it with his bed clothes. His usual cream-colored tunic. He then crawled into bed next to her and leaned closer. Her lips parted slightly, as if she were about to whisper a secret.
A surge of tenderness washed over him. He had waited all day for this moment, to hold her in his arms as his eternal companion. With trembling hands, he reached out and brushed a stray from her forehead.
Her eyes fluttered open, and a smile spread across her face. "Aro," she whispered, her voice as sweet as a summer breeze. "You're here."
"I am, my love," Aro replied, his voice a low, husky caress.
Y/N was still in a slumbering state as she whispered to Aro. Her eyes remained closed. "I have missed you so much," she muttered
"Mi sei mancata, mia orchidea" (I have missed you too my Orchid) Aro confessed. He couldn't help but keep his steady crimson gaze on her beautiful mortal form. She looked radiant laying there in the bed. She seemed at peace. He envied her mortality. He watched her in amazement as she embraced her mortal slumber.
Aro then noticed the room was chilly. To him it seemed normal. but he knew Y/N would get cold. With gentle hands, he pulled the bed sheet over her sleeping form, its soft fabric enveloping her like a comforting embrace.
He had watched her sleep countless times, but it never ceased to fill him with a sense of wonder. She was his mate, his everything. And as he laid next to her, watching her slumber, he couldn't help but feel an overwhelming surge of love and gratitude.
Carefully, he tucked the sheet around her body, ensuring that she was warm and comfortable. He then leaned over and brushed a gentle kiss on her forehead.
"Good night, my love," he whispered softly. "Sleep well."Y/N was in a deep slumber. However, Aro would stay awake by her side. Laying there, counting each rise and fall of her chest. His crimsons began to trace her form. All the way till he reached her stomach. There, his gaze froze.
Beneath her soft skin, a tiny life stirred within her womb, a testament to their forbidden love.
Aro's heart swelled with a mixture of joy and trepidation. He had always longed for a child, but the ancient laws forbade it.
As he watched Y/N sleep, Aro couldn't shake the nagging worry that consumed him. What if their secret were to be discovered? The thought sent shivers down his spine.
He reached out a trembling hand and gently caressed Y/N's stomach. The gentle rise and fall of her breath beneath his fingertips soothed his fears momentarily, but they returned as quickly as they had subsided.
Aro's mind raced as he considered his options. He could flee with Y/N and the child, but that would mean abandoning his duties to the Volturi. He could hide them, but even the most secluded of places could not remain undiscovered forever.
Despair began to creep into his heart. He had never felt so torn between his love and his loyalty. The weight of his decision pressed heavily upon him. With a gentle caress, Aro began running his hand on the side of her face. His thumb leaving relaxing circles. That is when he suddenly got an idea. Y/N was asleep, meaning the barriers she built in her mind were crumbled.
Aro began to fight with himself. The argument pertaining if he should secretly delve into her mind while she was asleep. Or leave it be and wait for when she was ready. Aro felt like he was being tossed back and forth on the matter.
Finally, he made his decision.
In the ethereal realm of slumber, where secrets unfolded like blooming petals, Aro, ventured into the uncharted depths of Y/N's mind.
As she lay in a state of tranquility, her defenses lowered, Aro's crimson eyes glowed with an otherworldly intensity. He extended his hand, its touch as gentle as the caress of a summer breeze and delved into the labyrinth of her thoughts.
At first, he encountered a surge of emotions—love, longing, and a hint of sorrow. But as he delved deeper, he stumbled upon a hidden chamber, its walls adorned with intricate tapestries woven with Y/N's memories.
But amidst the tapestry, there were threads of darkness—a shadowy past that had haunted Y/N for years. Aro saw the loss she had endured, the pain that lingered in the crevices of her soul.Aro was aware of this. He knew the horrors of the north and what she endured.
As he continued his exploration, he stumbled upon a forbidden chamber. It was a place of raw emotions, where Y/N's fears and insecurities danced in a macabre waltz. Aro felt a pang of empathy as he witnessed her vulnerabilities, her doubts, and her deepest wounds.
Yet, amidst the darkness, there was also a flickering flame of hope. Y/N's indomitable spirit shone through, even in her most trying moments. Aro saw her resilience, her determination to overcome. He witnessed this second handedly when she is practicing her magic. Helping herself heal. Finally, he reached the location in her mind that held the barriers. Though, this time, there were no barriers. Everything was raw and exposed. Aro made his decision and entered these new parts of her mind that he never seen before.
Aro watched as everything played out. He witnessed what Y/N seen in Marcus's mind. Aro began to wonder why Y/N never mentioned any of this to him. He understood she was afraid. She was afraid of Marcus and is everlasting threats.
Though, Aro had speculations.
Aro could not confess his newfound knowledge. He now needed to continue devising his plan. He knew what was coming his way. He now knew the gravity of the situation.
As Aro withdrew from Y/N's mind, he was forever changed.
With a quick thought, Aro quietly got out of bed and made his way to his study that cornered the room. He pulled out a piece of parchment and dipped his quill.
Aro began writing diligently. Beginning with ...
Lucian
And ending with ....
Promise
Aro needed to protect his family, no matter the cost.
Even if that cost was himself.
