It was time for the trial. Aro was standing above the short stairs that led to the Volturi seats. The room was full of Volturi council members and Y/N was sitting with Athenodora and Jane at the side of the room watching the trial conspire.
An air of solemn anticipation hung heavy. The trial was imminent, a pivotal moment that would forever alter the destiny of one of the Volturi's own.
Above the short stairs that ascended to the Volturi's imposing seats, Aro stood tall and regal. His piercing gaze swept the gathering, which comprised the entire Volturi council.
As the trial commenced, Aro's voice echoed through the chamber, its hypnotic cadence demanding attention. He recited the charges against the accused, Marcus . Marcus had been apprehended. He was on his knees in chains at the center of the trial hall. There were two vampire guards on both sides of him.Y/N was listening intently, her mind racing. Y/N was having feelings she never felt before. Especially towards another individual. Y/N was feeling hatred burning up inside her. She hated this man, all he done was cause her harm. He was truly and evil and vile man. Her thoughts darkened as Aro explained the charges to the crowd.
Her thoughts raced. She wanted Marcus executed for his crimes; she wanted him dead. As if she were crossing her fingers as Aro and the council were discussing the matter at hand. Both sides negotiating back and forth. Bickering about his innocents and his guilty charge.
Aro suddenly spoke and the room fell silent once again. No more negotiations taking place. It was time for a decision to be made.
Please execute him
Y/N's mind was tainted with the thought
She even began fidgeting with the cast that was placed on her wrist. She was becoming nervous, nervous about the outcome. Her mind raced. She hated herself for not telling Aro about what she seen in Marcus's mind the night he was ill. If Aro knew, possibly the execution would've come sooner. All she could do now was watch and wait.
Y/N looked upon the large room as she heard the council members exchanging hushed whispers, their faces etched with contemplation. For a long moment, silence reigned.
Finally, Aro spoke. His voice was tinged with spite as he announced the council's verdict. Though, Aro took his time. He enjoyed the thrill of dragging out a verdict. Aro was in his sinister realm. He stepped down slowly and stood in front of Marcus as he towered over him. "Marcus, Marcus, Marcus" Aro pronounced his name with a darker tone by each syllable. "You know why you are here" he continued. Aro was now playing with his prey. His helpless chained up prey.Aro, again announced the accusations. This time he was speaking directly to Marcus as his piercing crimsons laid on him.
Marcus, his face a mask of impassive detachment, met Aro's piercing gaze. "I deny the accusation."
"You lie, Marcus," Aro hissed, his eyes glowing with an otherworldly intensity. "Your thoughts betray you."Aro then grabbed Marcus's hand and delved into the recesses of Marcus's consciousness, exposing his secrets and hidden motivations. He knew that Marcus had orchestrated the attempted murder on Y/N.
Even though Aro delved into his mind, he could not see everything that was there. There was something blocking Aro from delving deeper. The only thoughts and memories he could uncover were those from the day before. That is when Aro witnessed a memory of Marcus paying the large man a sum of golden coins.
"You were desperate to rid of the witch," Aro continued, his voice dripping with contempt. "You fear her, don't you" he continued
Marcus's resolve wavered as Aro's words struck a nerve. He had indeed been driven by desperation; his ancient nature horrified at the prospect of their world being shattered by a mortal witch. However, there was more to Marcus's reasoning. Aro knew this.
"I... I made a mistake," Marcus uttered, his voice barely a whisper. "I was only afraid."
