Days into Nights

In the hallowed halls of Volturi, days had become an endless cycle of council meetings and stolen moments. Aro found solace in the company of his dear orchid, Y/N. He would awaken and find the intoxicating aroma of the fresh blood-tea she mended for him. The mixture always healing his sickness with such grace. Yet, he still carried his coughing fits and held darken circles under his crimson eyes.

Countless council meetings had passed, their voices echoing through the grand trial hall. Aro presided over them with an air of authority, his piercing gaze scanning the faces of his subordinates. Yet, his thoughts often wandered to Y/N, waiting patiently in the gardens.

As the sun began its descent, Aro would seek refuge in the lush gardens that adorned the Volturi castle. Y/N would join him there, her laughter like a gentle breeze rustling through the trees. They would stroll hand in hand their footsteps barely audible on the paths. Both naming the different flowers and Medicinal's growing among the garden to each other.

In the twilight's embrace, they would retreat to the library. Aro's vast collection of ancient leather bounds held a particular fascination for Y/N, as it always had, and he would spend hours regaling her with tales of forgotten civilizations and arcane knowledge. Stories of a past he once lived.

As the night wore on, they would curl up together in their chamber, the flickering flames of a single candle casting warm shadows upon their faces. Aro would read aloud from a particularly captivating text, his voice soft and melodious.

Y/N would listen intently, her eyes wide with wonder. She had never imagined that a vampire like Aro could possess such a thirst for knowledge and a capacity for compassion. Of course, during her time in Volturi, she had learned this about him. Yet, it still mesmerized her.

In those stolen moments, time seemed to stand still. The world outside the castle walls faded into insignificance as Aro and Y/N shared their intertwined bond together.

And so, the days turned into weeks at Volturi. Council meetings and stolen moments intertwined, creating a tapestry of forbidden desires and unbreakable bonds.

Amidst towering marble columns and ancient tapestries, the passage of time painted a subtle transformation upon Y/N. Weeks had ebbed away, carrying her into the fifth and a half month of her pregnancy.

Aro, with his keen senses detected the subtle changes in her body, the faint glow that radiated from her skin, and the graceful curve of her belly.

As the days turned into nights, the once-unnoticeable signs became increasingly apparent. Y/N's garments, once flowing loosely, now clung gently to her form, revealing the gentle swell of her womb. Her movements became more deliberate, a graceful dance as she navigated the castle's labyrinthine halls.

Aro watched her with a mixture of awe and anticipation. He knew that the child growing within her was destined for greatness, a testament to the bond they shared and the severed bond of their species. Yet, he also sensed a hint of apprehension within her, a flicker of uncertainty that he longed to dispel. If he noticed the changes, certainly others would be catching on as well.

Her sickness had long gone, and her appetite enhanced. Aro could not help but watch her as she ate. His crimson eyes sat on her with awe and amusement as she would eat. He never knew someone so mortal and tiny could fit so much food. Not only food enhanced, but her longing for slumber called to her continuously. She took multiple naps through the day. Usually, Aro would command her to rest as he sensed her discomfort and heard her untimely yawns.

Aro would watch her as she slept soundly in their chamber. His thoughts were consumed by a profound concern that gnawed at his undead heart.

His mate, carrying their unborn child and forbidden child, a precious gift that filled him with both joy and trepidation. Aro had always been a master of foresight, but now, his visions were clouded by a growing sense of unease. He feared for their safety.

Threats lurking in the shadows, a vampire coven with a reputation for ruthless ambition. Marcus's thirst for power extended beyond mere sustenance. He thrusted for the blood of his mate. He thirsted for Aro's own head.

Aro, sitting at his study. With his crimsons set on the sight of his mate sleeping in their chamber bed. Her fragile hand laid across her stomach, cradling their unborn child. He watched as she laid their lost in her own slumber. He began to remember how she slept when she first arrived in Volturi. Of course, she wouldn't know about his knowledge on the subject. He was always watching her. He was watching her from the secret entrance into her chamber. Though, he could not admit this to her. But, compared to how she slept now, he knew she was comfortable and trusted him whole heartedly.

He couldn't keep his gaze off her. She was a fragile mortal. Yes, a witch. But she was still warm flesh and carried a pulsating vein within her neck that he had to control himself daily to not sink his teeth into.

Aro needed to stick to his own plan. He knew his death was near. He knew his time was coming to a short cut. But he wouldn't let his mate and unborn child suffer. At least there would still be something of him in this world, long after he was gone. He knew Y/N would mourn for him, but within time she could move on. Perhaps she would meet another mortal, or she would spend her days with her dear Lycan friend Lucian. At least she had a family to return to. She could return to the Lycan clan if needed be. Whichever it be, if they thrived and survived.

Aro knew the feeling gnawing at his heart. He knew she would hate him. But he needed to follow through with his own orders. He needed to protect them and there was only one way he could do that.
