In the secluded embrace of the cave nestled near the windswept shores. Aro and Y/N spent their night in each other's arms underneath the twilight skies. As soon as the sun began to shine over the waters, they both made their way quietly inside the Volturi fortress. Y/N recounted her steps as they made their way back through the hidden corridor where Aro led her. She needed to keep her promise to Aro.

Y/N sat at the table in their chamber after she gotten dressed for the day. Her heart filled with a mix of anticipation and trepidation. She was in her second trimester of pregnancy, and this morning something felt amiss.

As she took a bite of her oatmeal, a wave of nausea washed over her. She struggled to swallow, her stomach churning uncomfortably. She quickly excused herself from the table and stumbled to the bathroom. There, she leaned over the sink and retched violently.

Y/N had experienced morning sickness in her first trimester, but it had subsided easily. This sudden onset of nausea was unexpected and alarming. She washed her face and returned to the main chamber; her appetite gone.

Aro tilted his head in speculation. "Are you okay" he asked.

Y/N shook her head. "I don't feel well," she murmured. "I think I'm going to lie down."

Aro got up from his study and walked over to her as she made her way to their bed and laid down. Aro sat down on the bed next to her and placed a cool hand on her stomach. Circling slow motions. Y/N found this calming and the coolness of his hand gave her comfort.

"I will go to the trial this morning; you need to rest" Aro spoke. He was concerned about her discomfort.

"Ok, I'll be here" she added with a slight smile. Aro returned the smile and got up on his feet. He grabbed his papers from his study and began his way out of the chamber. Abruptly, he stopped in his tracks and glanced upon his mate once again. "Do not answer this door to anyone" Aro reminded her. "I'll send for Athenodora" he added as he continued his departure from the room and shut the door.

Y/N turned on her side on the bed and took a few breaths, attempting to keep her stomach in her body. She was not hungry and had a feeling she was not going to be eating anything else more today.

Aro made his way swiftly to the trial hall. As usual he made his grand entrance and walked past the individuals scattered in the room awaiting his presence. He then made his way up the steps and sat upon his seat. Marcus and Caius were present today.

Everyone was still talking amongst the room. Aro used this as an opportunity to notify Athenodora about Y/N. He turned slightly and held out a small piece of parchment to Caius. Caius grabbed the parchment swiftly with and looked upon it. He quickly read Athenodora's name upon the parchment and held it up for her to take. Athenodora was standing near Caius's seat per usual. She quietly looked upon it and swiftly left the room without another word. She understood the task and she understood the gravity of keeping it secret. Aro watched as Athenodora left. He found comfort in knowing she would be with Y/N.

Marcus cleared his throat as he glanced upon the room

Marcus cleared his throat as he glanced upon the room. "Aro, where is your witch at today?" he questioned Aro. Aro did not look at Marcus. He kept his crimsons set on the crowd in front of him. "She will not be joining us today, unfortunately she has a cold" Aro spoke plainly. Of course he was lying to Marcus. He knew better than to trust him. "How unfortunate" is all Marcus said.

Aro then stood from his seat and announced the trial proceedings. Jane, Dimitri and Felix quickly stood up and gathered in the center of the trial hall. Their gaze fixated on Aro. The three explained their journey to Rivendell and what they investigated while there. Especially what they determined from looking over the deceased bodies of the elves.

They explained in great detail about the bite marks that were placed upon the elves' necks and wrists. They were wide, more than likely from the north. Then Felix explained what he heard from an elf in Rivendell. She told him about what she seen. Determining that the vampires who committed the murders were from the north and were death dealers.

This information made Aro shift in his seat. Why would death dealers be this close. Death dealers from the north rarely made it to Rivendell. They were far from the northern territories. Meaning, they were now south. By the time Jane and the other two made it back to Votluri, these death dealers more than likely been close by Volturi for weeks now. He knew why they would be coming in this direction. They were coming for Y/N.

Aro listened contently as the council and Volturi members delegated procedures and ancient law about the matter. The elves were seeking justice for their deceased and Aro needed to make a judgement.

In the chamber, Y/N's body wracked with waves of nausea. She clutched her stomach tightly, her face pale and eyes closed. Athenodora, entered the chamber with a soothing presence.

"Y/N"' Athenodora whispered, her voice gentle as a summer breeze. "Let me help you."

With deft hands, Athenodora placed a cool compress on Y/N's forehead and gently rubbed her back. The nausea gradually subsided, replaced by a sense of calm.

"Thank you, Athenodora," Y/N murmured, her voice weak. "I have been feeling so unwell this morning."

Athenodora smiled. "It is the morning sickness; it'll go away in time"

"Yes, I just thought it would be gone by now" Y/N added. Athenodora smiled to her friend.

Suddenly, both women head the chamber door open. They turned their heads in the direction of the sound. Deep down, both women knew it was not Aro or another friendly face. They would all be in trial still.

Who they saw standing there, was not a friend nor a foe. It was a familiar face. But the features and the sensed presence was not familiar.
