Warning: This chapter contains attempted r*pe in a flashback. Nothing happened thanks to someone saving the day. Please be advised and aware of that scene!

Ebany dressed in one pair of a matching outfit set that Forneus gifted her. It was meant to be a set of traveling clothes, but Ebany thought they looked like a priestess' and priest's robes. Hers was purple and white with a golden sash. The other set was with Edan. His was red and white with a golden sash. She wondered if he found the pack she left him. Ebany hoped that he did. The outfit suited her crystal necklace and amulet well, but she did not wear the crystal that day. Ebany let out a sigh as she thought about her little brother again.

"What will I call you, hermanito? Cael or Edan?" She asked herself.

"Mama pretty!" Rune complimented her. Ebany smiled and petted her puppy. "What do you think will happen once we meet Edan again, perrita? I hope it'll be a good encounter." She said. Ebany dreaded her relationship with Edan becoming sour. Ebany was still against freeing The One Who Waits as she could sense nothing but tragedies happening should he be freed. Not to mention that there was still that one part of the prophecy that worried Ebany.

That part was about the Red Crown that can't be worn on two brows. Ebany knew what it meant. The Red Crown can only have one true wielder. At the moment, it was Narinder or The One Who Waits. Edan was really only borrowing it. What would happen when the time came? After Shamura was killed? Would Edan die as a sacrifice again? Ebany shook her head and sighed once more. Even if she sent a letter to him, trying to convince him not to do it, it'd be useless. There was one day when she received another letter from him. It was like any other letter from a friend or sibling.

Its contents were simple as it told Ebany of Edan's daily life in the Cult. He would help and indoctrinate followers, assign them to work, even officiated a wedding! Ebany smiled a bit, happy that Edan was happy from what it sounded like. When she read the part where he talked about Edan's crusades, Ebany grew worried. It was placed lightly in the letter, but Ebany could tell that a crusade could be dangerous even if some were meant to be supply runs. The letter was signed Edan/Cael, as if the lamb didn't know how to sign off. Ebany then wondered... Could her brother be known as Edan to the Cult and Cael to her? It would be something she would have to ask him. Edan also mentioned Ratau, a former vessel of The One Who Waits who had been his mentor and father figure.

Ebany was intrigued, but glad that Edan had some guidance. There were details about the game they play. Edan did provide a description of how Knucklebones worked and how he wished to play the game with Ebany. Ebany tried to understand how to play but didn't quite understand it. Perhaps she can learn how to play when she sees Edan again. Ebany finished reading the letter and put it away. She wrote a reply and took advantage that Shamura had not summoned her for any reason. She didn't mind, but she didn't want them to know about the letters, even know she didn't write anything that could be considered "treasonous" or something like that. Though something did occur to her. She hadn't asked how the Bishops met Rose in the first place.
