Disclaimer: I do not own Cult of the Lamb. I am simply a fan of the game. I was inspired by Jbrine061. Please check out her story. She is amazing. Now onto the story.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The lamb finally had his gift. He was planning to make a quick crusade to Noonveil to go and surprise Ebany. What he half expected was the other Bishops who wished to go or at least send their gifts to Ebany. Edan helped them to send them quickly to her. There was just one thing though... He exactly would he get to Noonveil? Most logical answer was to use the teleportation circle to get to the Noonveil one. He was far from knowing portal magic. Narinder wanted to join him, but he still deemed Hector unfit to work. He needed at least a week off. Namely stated by the twins. He couldn't say no to the babies!
As for the others, not everyone was sure it was prudent to surprise Ebany. They could just send her their gifts. Edan was planning to go until he received a magic note. Ebany was planning to visit them later! That made things so much easier! He'd hold a bonfire ritual in her honor! If it was one thing everyone in the cult knew, it was that their leader loved his sister dearly. Unofficially, Ebany's title in the Cult was that of a Lady whether she joined or not.
There was also another reason why it was good that Edan didn't leave. Two expecting mothers had gone into labor! The medical staff split up to help each mom so they didn't have to wait. The midwives hurried to do their work quickly no matter how long it took for the babies or eggs to arrive. Not everyone had a natural birth, some creatures, bird or not, laid eggs that would hatch their baby. Edan made sure they had plenty of supplies. His mom actually worked as a midwife in training before she decided to become a weaver so she had told him a lot of what to do. All knowledge is good knowledge, she'd day.
Fortunately, all went well and the baby and one egg were delivered. For the mother that laid the egg, it was a waiting game for it to hatch. Edan blessed the newborn and forth of newborn egg. He'd talk to the parents when they wished for the children to be baptized. Speaking of children, Arabella and Tanner were in a little playpen that Edan set up for them. It was a safe way they could spend time outside their home and for Georgina to get fresh air. She'd sit by them to keep watch. It was also a way for Hector to see his family while he worked.
Edan often wondered what it would be like to be a father. He would see how excited the sheep back in his village got when their children did things for the first time. His parents were probably the same. He wondered if Narinder would want kids... even if he did, there was a problem. They were both guys! Traditionally speaking, a male and female could make kids. Same sex couples could adopt, but have children of their own? Was it possible? It was something to ask Ebany once she arrived.
‡★‡
Ebany woke up like usual. She was in her bed, trying to catch a few more winks before Rune woke her up. After fully waking up, she remembered what day it was. It was her birthday. She was a year older. She was at home too. Last year, she wasn't at home. Ebany laid in bed a few more minutes before getting up and getting to her routine.
She would go to the kitchen and make herself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for breakfast with a glass of warm milk on the side. Her mom was elsewhere working on house chores and her dad was probably working on herbs. She was about to get the peanut butter and grape jelly jars when her parents came in with her top favorite breakfast!
They were singing "Happy Birthday" too! Feniks brought her a plate of french toast and placed it on the table. They gave her a big hug before she sat down to eat. Rune also got her favorite breakfast! Benjy too and so did everyone else! It was a celebration day after all? Ebany wondered if there would be more surprises along the way on her birthday.
