Disclaimer: I do not own Cult of the Lamb. I am simply a fan of the game. I was inspired by Jbrine061. Please check out her story. She is amazing. Now onto the story.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Ratau made his way to the Cult. He had a bad feeling in his gut and hoped it was wrong. Ratau saw that Hector was handling things so that meant that Edan was out or indisposed. Ratau went up to him and asked about the lamb. Hector told him that he was in the medical tent. Looks like his gut was right... Ratau thanked Hector for the information and made his way to the healing tent. Ratau went inside and saw Edan in bed. His face was more discolored than it had been earlier. Not to mention that it had spread to his arms and legs.
Ratau gasped upon seeing Edan's condition. He knew what he had... That illness was eradicated years ago! It came back once when he was vessel. There was a sheep village that fell victim to the disease, but since he didn't have the cure, they were lost... "No..." Ratau stood by Edan's side. By now, he had most likely thrown up and now was unconscious for a good few hours. Ratau hoped to never lay eyes on the dastardly sickness again... how did it return?!
Ratau noticed the cat plushie that reminded him of his master... where was he? When Kallamar passed by, Ratau asked him. Kallamar told the rat that Narinder was off searching for the cure for the lamb. And if he must know, the kitchen was making food for him and would be delivering it shortly. Hopefully the lamb would be awake by then. Ratau sat next to Edan and helped keep his fever down. Edan would wake up eventually, but was very weak. His eyes opened slowly, looking up at the ceiling. The lamb looked around and would see his mentor and father figure.
"... Ratau...?" Edan's throat felt so weak and sore.
"Hey, Cael." Ratau smiled warmly at the lamb.
"I got sick again, didn't I...?" Cael smiled a little upon seeing Ratau.
"Yes.." Ratau replied, rather sadly. When it wasn't an enemy he was up against, it was sickness.
"I'm cursed to be sick forever..." Cael grumbled before he turned away and coughed.
"... Perhaps after you ascend to godhood, it'll pass." Ratau said to the lamb.
Cael said nothing and let out a shaky sigh. He felt something close as saw the little black cat plushy next to him. "When did Kitty get here?" He held it, calling the toy by the name he gave it.
"I don't know. It was here when I arrived." Ratau answered.
Cael knew that it must have been Narinder who brought it. Only he really know about the plush. "Where's Narinder?" He asked.
"I... do not know. Kallamar said he went to find you the cure." Ratau told him.
"Cure? What am I sick with?" Cael asked. He didn't know what he had. The illness had been long dormant and made into a myth years ago.
"You... don't know?" Ratau's heart sank.
"No..." Cael never passed out after throwing up before. He had gotten sick in the past and had thrown up before, but he never went unconscious shortly afterwards.
Ratau took a break before he explained to Cael what he had. "I don't know everything...but I know it's called, Sheep Blight. It only affects sheep kind...and... I haven't seen it since I was a Crown bearer..."
Cael was shocked to hear that name... so the elders were right all along! "I thought that was a myth... There were stories about it in my village, but I never saw it or caught it... until now..." He told him.
"I do not know how it spreads, or what conditions must be met to catch it... But I know it killed an entire village of Sheep-Folk." Ratau held Cael's hand. "I do not think you have any need to worry. For starters, you are already doing better than any of the others, likely because of the Crown. And secondly, if you did happen to die, you would resurrect." Ratau finished. I think? He actually wasn't sure, but it should be the case... Cael held his hand tight and hugged his plushy... he was scared. Cael had been close to death before as a child and not it was happening again.
