Ebany would tell Merlin of her dilemma regarding her cat friends. Merlin knew about the clans and has known about them for years. He happily helped his apprentice learn what she needed to do and provided her with a communication crystal. The next time Ebany arrived home, she went to ThunderClan and presented Bluestar with the gem and taught her how it was used. Bluestar learned quickly and decided that Yellowfang would have permission to use it aside from her. If there was an emergency, she would give any cat to send word to Ebany.

There was also something else. Aside from going on dates with Richy, Ebany wanted to see where her greatest of greats grandma rested. She visited her uncle and made her request. After Ebany had been through, he felt that it was only wrote to take his greatest of greats niece to his sister's resting place. After that, was to find the way back to the Cult of the Lamb.

Nox led his greatest of greats niece to where he laid his sister to rest. The tomb was a long way away from the Phoenix Clan settlement. Nox wanted to have his sister to have a peaceful slumber alongside her husband. Even though he was not of phoenix blood, he was the father to the first official phoenix hybrid children and the late husband to Nox's late sister. The tomb had been made in the ancestral home of Phoenix kind. Where Nox had lived with Rose long before they gained their human forms.

Ebany rode on Nox's back as he flew in phoenix form. The great bird flapped his wings, leaving behind a trail of rainbow sparkles and particles. Nox was known as the rainbow phoenix because of his colorful tipped wings. Ebany wished she could fly beside him, but she could not stay in her phoenix form for a long period of time. Having been born as a mortal would be, some abilities a phoenix would have were difficult to access. It was a bit easier now that her tail feathers had come out a while back. Ebany sometimes felt left out, as if she was never part phoenix to begin with.

She expressed such concerns to her parents, and they told her that she always had been and always would be part firebird. Even if she struggled more than others, Ebany would forever have phoenix blood in her veins. They embraced her after that. Then came when she wanted to see her founding ancestor's resting place. After everything she had learned about her on her time away from Noonveil, Ebany wanted to see her and tell her everything. It wouldn't be long now. Nox called to her to say that they were almost there.

There were forests close to the mountains as Ebany looked around. So this is where Phoenix kind used to live... well, most of them. Ebany heard caws, screeches, and cries, all of them from phoenixes. Looking ahead, she saw some of them flying here and there, to and throw. She saw how beautiful they were. Flame followed feathers with beautiful tail feathers trailing behind them Some of them left shining and glittering trails of red, orange, and yellow. Ebany was in awe, she had seen phoenix kin mostly in human form. Very rarely were they in phoenix form.

A few called out greetings to her and Nox. Ebany could understand what they were saying. The firebirds welcomed them home... Nox called back to them, thanking them and even flew with some before continuing on his way. Some younger ones flew by Ebany and she got to pet them. It was a magical experience from her perspective. Ebany wanted nothing more than to fly alongside her uncle right then and there. Nox flew to a large cliff side and landed. He bent down for Ebany to get off. After she did so, he motioned her to follow, staying in his phoenix form.

Nox walked to a large stone that acted as the door to the family crypt. He took off his amulet and placed it in a small indent on the rock and waited. The stone lit up, making various runes appear around it. The stone moved aside, opening the entrance to the tomb. Ebany watched and felt like she was in an adventure story! Nox took his amulet from the stone and walked inside with Ebany. The stone closed behind them. Nox reassured her that it would open again once they were ready to leave. Ebany followed her uncle down the path that would lead them to where Rose was.
