Rumi sighed, looking at the lush green forest and spreading out a picnic blanket. " I can't believe you took me here, Lloyd. It's amazing."
Lloyd shrugged, taking the food out. " It's officially been one year since the Overlord has been defeated."
" And one year since I realized I was fighting for the wrong side." Rumi muttered.
LLoyd looked at her. " You know it's not your fault, right?"
Rumi shook her head. " I just can't believe I said all that to you. You know, that you're easily swayed and all that. Never thought the day would come when I also realized I'm also easily swayed."
" The Devourer took everything from you. It's understandable." Lloyd returned to setting out the picnic.
" Yeah, I guess." Rumi turned and helped Lloyd. " Hey, where's Bubble?"
" In her stroller." Lloyd replied causally.
" And where's that?" Rumi looked around but couldn't find it.
" Behind you."
Rumi turned.
" Uh, Lloyd. You do know there's literally nothing but leaves and trees behind me, right?"
" Oh, come on, don't be a-" Lloyd looked up. " Oh."
Then, they heard a squeal. Rumi parted the bushes, and gasped.
Their sea otter was rolling away.
The idyllic scene shattered in an instant. Rumi's gasp morphed into a startled yell, "Bubble!" that echoed through the trees. Lloyd, his carefree expression replaced by pure panic, shrieked, "No! Not the otter roller coaster!"
The picnic basket tumbled over, sending sandwiches and fruit salad flying as both Rumi and Lloyd scrambled into action. Rumi, fueled by a surge of adrenaline, launched herself after the runaway otter, her nimble form weaving through the trees. Lloyd, ever the Green Ninja, didn't need to rely on the ground. He swung from tree to tree, he propelled himself into the air, soaring above the clearing in a desperate attempt to intercept Bubble's wild ride.
From Bubble's perspective, the world was a blur of green and brown. The wind whipped through her fur as she navigated the unexpected downhill course, her tiny paws steering the stroller with surprising adeptness. For a moment, it was pure, unadulterated fun. But as the incline steepened, a tremor of fear started to creep into her happy squeaks.
Rumi, her lungs burning, burst through the undergrowth and spotted Bubble just ahead. "Hold on, Bubble!" she cried, pushing herself even harder. But the distance was closing slowly, and the slope grew more treacherous with each passing second.
Above, Lloyd scanned the terrain, his brow furrowed in concentration. He needed to act fast, but also carefully. He couldn't risk colliding with Bubble or sending her off course further. Spotting a large oak tree with sturdy branches at the bottom of the slope, he formulated a plan.
Lloyd landed gracefully on a thick branch, just a few feet above the ground. He crouched low, extending his arms towards the path of the runaway stroller. The adrenaline coursing through his veins gave him superhuman strength, and he braced himself for the impact.
The moment arrived with a heart-stopping thud. The blue stroller, propelled by Bubble's momentum, collided with Lloyd's outstretched arms. He grunted as the force sent a jolt through his body, but he held firm. The impact, thankfully, slowed the stroller considerably.
Rumi, finally catching up, skidded to a stop below Lloyd. Together, they gently brought the stroller to a complete halt. Bubble, wide-eyed and trembling slightly, looked up at them with a mixture of fear and relief.
