When Mia Walker Garmadon first arrived at her humble abode when she was born, Zane, Kai, Cole, and Jay were waiting anxiously.
There was just one problem -she wouldn't stop crying. Day and night, she would wail. Everyone tried to calm her down- Wu, Carolina, Zane, Cole, and Kai. Nothing would work. But when Jay asked, they refused.
“ You're too young.” Carolina would say.
“ The baby is too premature.” Wu added.
One day, Jay, who woke up in the middle of Mia's tantrums, was determined to calm her down. Creeping in, he extended his hand to Mia's crib and whispered,
“ Hey there. It's me. Your big brother, Jay.”
All at once, Mia stopped crying. She took Jay's hand with her small, chubby one. Jay smiled and slowly picked her up and took her to the rocking chair.
Then, the door burst open. The others, who had heard this peace they hadn't heard for a while, were curious to know who stopped Mia's crying. When they saw Jay and Mia, though, they refused to believe it.
Carolina snatched her child from Jay's hands.
“ Jay Walker!” She scolded. Who are you to-”
Her lecture was interrupted by Mia's cries. She walked once more, her tiny throat still strong.
Jay, who was fuming, snatched the baby out of his mom's hands and into his.
Carolina gasped, but before she could say anything, Wu stepped forward, placing a calming hand on her shoulder. "Wait," he said gently, "let's see."
Jay, his heart pounding, held Mia close to his chest. He rocked her gently and whispered soothing words, "Shh, it's okay, Mia. Big brother's here."
To everyone's amazement, Mia's cries softened to whimpers and then to quiet breaths. She snuggled into Jay's embrace, her tiny fingers gripping his shirt.
