They had just arrived home when the front door knocked. Intrigued, Mia turned to open it, and found....
" Nelson?!" She exclaimed, hugging him. " What are you doing here?"
Nelson smiled. " Easy, Wojira. I summoned enough courage to visit the guys and you again." Then he paused. " Well, only the courage to see the guys. But you, I don't need to."
Mia smiled at him. " Oh, you little love bug."
" My little honeymuffin."
" Oh, you! How romantic!"
Kai, who had been exchanging an amused look with Cole, finally chimed in. "Alright, lovebirds," he teased, his playful tone a welcome change from the earlier seriousness. "Let Nelson in before he gets eaten by a rogue squirrel."
Nelson, ever the literal one, shot a worried glance towards the nearby trees. "Squirrels?" he squeaked, his bravado momentarily forgotten.
Mia chuckled, ushering him inside. "Don't worry, Nelson," she reassured him. "The only squirrel you need to worry about is the one living in Zane's head."
Zane, ever the stoic one, tilted his head in confusion. "Squirrel? Is that a new type of malfunction I should be aware of?"
Mia sighed. " See?"
Nelson, though, was confused.
" But he was always a walking dictionary."
Just when Mia was going to reply, her phone rang. She picked it up.
" Hello? Mia, elemental master of Nelson. I.. I mean, love- oh, no! Wind! Master of wind!"
The person on the other end giggled. " Oh, Mimi."
" Rose?" Mia asked. " What happened?"
Rose sighed. " The ' you know who's ' are talking bad about the ninja. I thought you should know and could maybe, in hindsight, be able to defuse the tension."
Mia sighed. " Those ' you know who's' are very rulesy."
" Uh-huh. They're in... What was it called.... Ah, that place where.... Oh, come on, I'm right here... Ah... Oh yeah, the Realm of Bubbles."
Mia sighed. " The Realm of Endless Baths, you mean?"
A collective groan filled the room. The Realm of Endless Baths. Even the prospect of finding Jay couldn't completely erase the image of endless suds and rubber duckies.
"Great," Kai muttered, running a hand through his hair. "Just what we need after facing smoke monsters and robot dragons - a bath party with a bunch of prudes."
Cole, ever the optimist, tried to find a silver lining. "Maybe they have a really good bubble bath formula? Could be relaxing after all this fighting."
Mia, however, wasn't interested in the potential spa experience. "Alright, Rose," she said firmly into the phone, " I'm coming. Also, keep the bubbles at a minimum."
Rose giggled again. "You got it, Mimi. See you soon!"
Mia hung up, a wry smile playing on her lips. "Well, looks like our next adventure involves diplomacy, not demolition."
Nelson's shoulders slumped slightly. "Diplomacy? Me? Uh, maybe I should stay here then. I'm better at, uh, cheering and... bringing snacks?"
The ninja exchanged amused glances. Zane, ever the logical one, chimed in. "Perhaps your presence, Nelson, could be beneficial in maintaining a friendly atmosphere."
A relieved grin spread across Nelson's face. "Alright, alright, you twisted my arm. But if Pixal starts talking about torque ratios again, I'm out of there!"
Mia chuckled. "Don't worry, Nelson. We'll keep the technical talk to a minimum. Now, how do we even get to this Realm of Endless Baths?"
Kai, who usually enjoyed a good brawl more than a diplomatic mission, straightened his shoulders, a hint of determination replacing his initial annoyance. "Let's find out. Jay's out there, and we're not stopping until we bring him back."
" Calculating the best rout-"
No time!" Mia barked, hopping on her dragon and cutting Zane off mid- sentence.
" We'll go faster by dragon." Nelson agreed, hopping on.
Sapphire, Mia's dragon, let out a loud sigh. Blackie padded to them and said, " Glad to see you're out of your little coma, darling."
Mia groaned. " Blackie!"
Blackie hopped into Mia's bag. " What?"
Mia shook her head. " You're annoying."
" You're welcome." His muffled voice said.
Sapphire, a magnificent azure dragon with scales that shimmered like sunlight on water, stretched her powerful wings with a dramatic flourish. A plume of white smoke puffed from her nostrils as she let out a bored sigh. Clearly, the prospect of another hurried flight wasn't high on her agenda.
"Whoa there, Sapphire," Mia soothed, her hand gently stroking the dragon's sleek neck. "We don't have time for your dramatics. We've got a Realm of Endless Baths to get to, and trust me, it doesn't sound any more appealing than you make it sound."
Sapphire grumbled a low purr, a sound that vibrated through Mia's fingertips. Nelson, already settled awkwardly in the designated passenger saddle, patted Blackie's head nervously. Blackie, nestled comfortably inside Mia's backpack, responded with a sassy hiss.
"Easy there, little guy," Nelson mumbled. "We'll be back before you know it, and maybe I can snag you some of those fancy fish treats from the Meowthracker later."
Blackie's response was muffled, but a faint rumbling purr suggested his approval.
Just then, Kai, already mounted on his trusty red dragon, Flame, swooped down beside them. "Ready to go, wind rider?" he called out, a playful glint in his eyes.
Mia smirked, her competitive spirit igniting. "Always, fire boy. Let's see who gets there first."
With a powerful beat of their wings, Sapphire and Flame launched into the sky, the wind whipping past Mia's face as she clung to the saddle. Nelson, hanging on for dear life, let out a high-pitched yelp that was quickly swallowed by the roar of the wind.
As they soared above Ninjago, the setting sun painted the horizon in hues of orange and purple. Below them, the sprawling city lights twinkled like scattered jewels.
"You know," Kai shouted over the wind, "for a bunch of ninjas who hate baths, you sure seem eager to get to this Bubble Realm."
Mia laughed, the sound carried away by the wind. "Hey, someone has to go in and charm the uptight bureaucrats," she yelled back. "Besides, who knows? Maybe they have a legendary bubble formula that could give Nya the ultimate spa day."
Kai chuckled, a spark of hope igniting in his eyes. Nya's love for a good spa treatment was no secret. Perhaps this diplomatic mission wouldn't be so bad after all.
