Mia woke up a bright early morning, to find a pair of eyes staring at her.
" AHHHH!" she recoiled, jumping up.
" Easy, Mia. I was just gonna wake you up!" The person said.
Mia sighed. " Jay, why do you always have to give me a heart attack?"
" Sorry, but you and Nya are too cute when you sleep."
" I'm honored, but.... Why today?"
Jay sighed. " There's a meteorite on its way to Ninjago.
Mia looked at him with wide eyes, then threw her blanket on him and scrambled to the garage, where she logged on and searched about the meteorite.
" Okay.... Coming 16 knots per hour.... Arrival approximately 10 hours until impact..... Uh.... It's impact area.... Ninjago City.... Why didn't I guess...." She muttered, shaking her head.
" Mia, what are you doing so early in the morning?" Wu asked, sipping his tea.
" Master! Is it true there's gonna be a meteorite? Headed for Ninjago?"
Master Wu sighed. " Yes. Who told you?"
" Jay! When did you guys find out?"
" Yesterday. We kept it to ourselves because we all know how you get."
" Master Wu!" She shouted. " This is a meteorite! We all need to be informed!"
" I apologize, Mia. I shall keep that in mind for next time."
" You said that last time." Mia grumbled under her breath.
" What was that?"
" Nothing." Mia walked to the elevator and went up. There, she went to the storage room and tried to find swords, nets, even a large magnet - anything to either slow or stop the meteorite long enough to evacuate the people.
" Whatcha doin', Mia?" Kai asked.
Mia sighed. " What do you think, Fire Maker?"
" Uh... Going through the storage room?"
Mia groaned. " I'm trying to figure out how to stop the meteorite! Isn't anyone else concerned?"
Kai looked at her. " Who told you about the meteorite?"
Mia slapped her head. " A bird."
Then, she stormed away and went to her room. She slammed the door to her room, letting out a frustrated huff. She threw herself onto her desk chair, spinning around before stopping abruptly. With a deep sigh, she grabbed her sketchbook and a pencil, the tip already worn down from countless hours of drawing.
"Why am I the only one who cares?" she muttered under her breath as she began to sketch. The lines on the page came to life with her anger, jagged and forceful. She drew a meteorite hurtling towards the city, and then she sketched herself, standing bravely in its path, holding up a shield made of light.
The pencil scratched against the paper as she added details to her drawing, her thoughts racing. "They're all just sitting around, sipping tea or tinkering with gadgets, while a giant rock is about to crush us all. How can they be so calm?"
There was a knock on her door, but Mia ignored it, her hand moving faster, shading in the shadows of the meteorite. The knock came again, louder this time.
"Mia, can I come in?" Jay's voice was muffled but gentle.
Mia clenched her jaw and shouted, "No! Go away!"
There was silence for a moment, and then Jay replied softly, "Okay, but I'm here if you want to talk."
Mia didn't answer. She didn't need to talk—she needed action. She flipped to a new page and began sketching ideas, her mind racing with possibilities. Maybe they could build a giant net to catch the meteorite, or perhaps she could design a rocket to blast it out of the sky. Each idea was more ambitious than the last, but none of them seemed possible with the time they had left.
