Jay sniffed as he held a picture of him and Mia. How he missed her.
A few weeks ago, Jay had woken up from his 3 month old coma. He was surprised, and when asked for Mia, he was told she merged to let him live.
Now, she was who knows where, maybe having the time of her life.
Jay, on the other hand, was depressed. He didn't move, talk, or even eat.
He just stayed in that one spot, hoping time would pass.
He just wanted his sister back.
As he sat there, the photo held tightly against his chest, Jay whispered to himself, “I miss you, Mia. I miss you so much. I just want you back.” The words were barely more than a soft murmur, but they carried the weight of his longing and heartache.
Kai approached Jay slowly, taking a seat next to him on the edge of the bed. Jay remained motionless, his gaze fixed on the photo in his hands. Kai's voice was gentle but firm. "Hey, Jay. You need to eat something."
Jay barely turned his head, his voice hollow. "What's the point? Nothing matters anymore."
Kai sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Listen, if you eat, if you take care of yourself, we can use the bounty to find Mia. We need you to be strong for that."
Jay’s eyes flickered briefly towards Kai, the weight of his words sinking in. The thought of doing something tangible to help find Mia was the only spark of hope Jay had left. He nodded faintly, though his body remained rigid.
Just then, Nya entered the room, her expression a mix of concern and sympathy. "Oh, Jay," she said softly, her eyes searching his face. The sight of Jay, so broken and lost, tugged at her heartstrings.
She walked over to them, kneeling beside Jay and placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "We're all here for you," she said gently. "We want to help you, and we want to find Mia too. But we need you to take care of yourself first."
Jay's eyes finally met Nya’s, the overwhelming sadness in them speaking volumes. For the first time in a long while, he felt a flicker of something other than despair—perhaps a sliver of hope that maybe, just maybe, he could start taking steps towards finding Mia and healing himself.
Kai stood up, giving Jay a reassuring nod. "We’ll start working on it right away. But you need to be strong for us, okay? We can’t do this without you."
Jay took a deep breath, his resolve slowly returning. He looked at Nya and Kai, their support giving him the strength he had been lacking. "Alright," he said quietly. "I’ll try."
As Nya prepared a simple meal, Kai went over the details of their plan to search for Mia. The room, though still heavy with sadness, began to fill with a sense of determination. Jay knew it would be a long road, but with Kai and Nya by his side, he felt a renewed sense of purpose.
Together, they would find Mia.
* Few hours later*
As Jay stood at the railing, staring out into the horizon with a distant look in his eyes, Cole approached Kai quietly. The weight of their situation was heavy on both of them, and the sense of hopelessness was almost palpable.
Cole leaned in and whispered, "Why are we doing this? We’ve tried this other times. It never works."
Kai's gaze remained fixed on Jay, his expression a mix of concern and resolve. He sighed and finally spoke, "It's the only way we can get him to eat and start taking care of himself. Jay’s been in a dark place for too long. He needs to believe that there’s still something worth fighting for."
