Mia was four at this time

"Kai. Kai. Kai. Kai!" A little voice said, jumping on his stomach.

Kai sighed, rolling over. "I love you, Mimi, but stop."

"But it's your birthday!" Mia protested.

"No, it's not."

Mia grinned as she used her powers to bring the calendar over.

"What was that?" She asked.

Kai glared at the calendar. "No it isn-oh, wait, it is. Happy birthday to me."

Mia laughed and kissed him on his cheek.

"Daddy and Mommy are outside, doing some ninja business. What should we do now?" Mia asked innocently.

Kai sighed. Jay and Nya were saving the world. Without him.

Then he shrugged and nestled in more. "Sleep."

Mia sighed. "Kaiiiii! I made you a cake. It's in the oven."

"Oh, that's ni-" He stopped, and jolted awake. "Wait, what did you say?"

"Cake? In the oven?"

"Oh, no." Kai whispered, throwing the covers off and racing to the kitchen.

Cole was there, pointing at the oven.

"Kai!" He yelled. "There's a fire!"

"Yeah-"

"And cake being ruined!"

Kai sighed. Mia, on the other hand, giggled.

"They like it!" Mia cheered.

Cole forced a smile. "Yes, Mia. We love it."

Kai quickly grabbed a fire extinguisher and put out the small fire, the kitchen filling with smoke. He turned to Mia, trying to keep a calm expression. "Mia, sweetheart, maybe next time we can make the cake together?"

Mia's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Okay! But can we make it now?"

Kai chuckled, ruffling her hair. "Sure, but let's make sure we do it safely this time."

Cole nodded, opening a window to let out the smoke. "I'll help too. We can make it a team effort."

Mia clapped her hands, thrilled. "Yay! Team cake!"

As they gathered the ingredients, Kai couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and gratitude. Despite the chaos and the unexpected fire, moments like these reminded him of the joy and love that came with being part of a family. They may not have been out saving the world today, but they were creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Together, they mixed, baked, and decorated the cake, laughter filling the kitchen. When they finally sat down to enjoy their creation, Kai looked around at his makeshift family and smiled.

"Happy birthday to me," he said, taking a bite of the cake.

Mia giggled. "Happy birthday, Kai!"

Then she said, "I got you a gift. From the store. At twelve in the night. It was a baby."

Kai blinked, unsure if he had heard her correctly. "Um... This is nice... I think?"

Cole looked even more baffled. "I'm... Confused."

Mia proudly presented a real baby, wrapped snugly in a blanket.

Kai's eyes widened in shock. "Where did you find this?"

"She was lost in the mall," Mia said with a bright smile.

Kai's heart raced. "Oh no."

"It's fine! She had a price tag!" Mia insisted.

Kai gently touched the "price tag" and sighed in relief. "That's not a price tag, Mia. That's her hair."

Cole rubbed his temples, trying to process the situation. "We need to find her parents. They must be worried sick."

Kai nodded, picking up the baby carefully. "You're right. Mia, it's very important to tell an adult when you find a lost child, okay?"

Mia's face fell slightly. "Okay, Kai. I just wanted to help."

Kai hugged her with one arm, holding the baby securely in the other. "I know you did, Mimi. And you have a big heart. But some things are too important for us to handle alone."

Cole took out his phone, already dialing. "I'll call the police. They'll know what to do."

As they waited for the authorities to arrive, Kai looked down at the baby, who had started to giggle and coo. He couldn't help but smile, despite the unusual circumstances.

"Happy birthday to me," he muttered under his breath, shaking his head in disbelief.

When the police arrived, they were able to quickly reunite the baby with her frantic parents, who were immensely grateful. Mia watched the reunion with wide eyes, understanding now the importance of what Kai and Cole had explained to her.

As the situation resolved, the family sat back down to enjoy what was left of Kai's birthday cake.

"Well, that was an adventure," Cole said, trying to lighten the mood.

Kai nodded, looking at Mia. "Just another day in the life, huh, Mimi?"

Mia giggled, hugging Kai tightly. "Happy birthday, Kai! I love you."

"I love you too, Mimi," Kai said, his heart full. "Thanks for making it a memorable one."

Then Mia said, "Oh, oh! I have a gift in the freezer!"

Kai, still reeling from the last surprise, looked at her with raised eyebrows. "Wait, what?"

Mia dashed over to the freezer, pulling out a large box. She struggled a bit with its size but managed to drag it over to Kai.

"Open it!" she said excitedly, bouncing on her toes.

Kai hesitated for a moment, then carefully opened the box. To his utter bewilderment, inside was Lloyd, curled up and shivering slightly.

"Lloyd?!" Kai exclaimed, helping him out of the box.

Lloyd rubbed his arms, trying to warm up. "Happy birthday, Kai," he said through chattering teeth. "Mia found me in the training room and said she had a special surprise for you."

Kai looked at Mia, half-amused and half-exasperated. "Mia, why was Lloyd in the freezer?"

Mia beamed, clearly not seeing any problem with her plan. "I wanted to make sure he stayed a surprise! And the freezer was the best hiding spot I could think of."

Cole burst out laughing, unable to contain himself any longer. "Well, you certainly succeeded in surprising him, Mia."

Lloyd finally warmed up enough to manage a smile. "Yeah, you sure did."

Kai shook his head, a chuckle escaping his lips. "Okay, Mia. No more surprises today, alright?"

Mia nodded vigorously. "Okay, Kai! No more surprises."

Kai looked at Lloyd. "You okay, buddy?"

Lloyd nodded, still smiling. "Yeah, just a bit cold. But I wouldn't miss your birthday for anything."

Kai pulled Lloyd into a hug. "Thanks, Lloyd. And thanks, Mia. You definitely made this a birthday to remember."

As they all settled back down to finally enjoy the rest of the cake, Kai couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected adventures and the love that surrounded him. Despite the chaos, it was moments like these that made him appreciate the unique family he had.
