Day of the departed

Cole went to his dad's House. Lloyd went to his house.

Mia, on the other hand, was wearing all black as she stepped on the podium. She held a paper, and took a shaky breath.

" We are here today to remember the late Wind and Lightning ninjas. My parents. They were taken from me at an early age, but they told me this. If Ninjago was ever in Trouble, me and Jay would leap to the rescue."

Tears welled in her eyes, and her eyes blurred. " My .. my brother, who is supposed to be here, is caught in other matters currently. But I'm sure he remembers."

Then she added, " I hope."

Mia stood on the podium, the weight of her words heavy in the air. She glanced at the crowd before her—familiar faces, friends, and those who had come to pay their respects. The setting sun cast long shadows, adding a somber tone to the gathering.

Taking another deep breath, Mia continued, her voice trembling slightly. "My parents taught me strength, bravery, and the importance of standing up for what's right. They dedicated their lives to protecting Ninjago and to guiding me and Jay. Even though they're no longer with us, their legacy lives on in each of us."

Her gaze fell to the paper she held, but it was clear she wasn't just reading words—she was reliving memories. "I remember their voices, their laughter, and the warmth of their embrace. They believed in the power of the ninjas, in the power of friendship and unity. And even in their absence, I feel their presence guiding us."

Mia's voice cracked as she spoke, and she paused to compose herself. The audience watched in silence, sharing in her grief and respect.

"I wish Jay could be here with us today," Mia said, her eyes scanning the crowd. "But I know he's fighting his own battles. I hope, with all my heart, that he can find solace in knowing we're carrying on their legacy."

She looked around, meeting the eyes of those who were there to support her. "Together, we'll honor their memory by continuing their mission to protect Ninjago, by being brave and compassionate just as they were."

Mia took a final, steadying breath, her voice growing stronger. "Thank you all for being here to remember them with me. Their spirit lives on in each of us, and we must continue to fight for what's right, just as they would have wanted."

As she finished, she folded the paper and stepped back from the podium. The audience clapped gently, their applause a mixture of respect and comfort. Mia's heart was heavy, but she felt a sense of solidarity with those around her, united in remembering the ninjas who had shaped their lives.

Mia hurried to the burial spot, the words from her speech still echoing in her mind. The secluded area, surrounded by blooming flowers and soft green grass, felt like a sanctuary. She knelt beside the graves, her emotions overwhelming her. Tears streamed down her face as she clutched the earth.

In the midst of her sorrow, a familiar voice gently called out, "Hey."

Mia's head snapped up, her tear-filled eyes struggling to focus. Standing there was Jay, looking worn but determined. Relief flooded over her, and she scrambled to her feet, her heart pounding.

"Jay!" she cried, rushing to him. The siblings embraced tightly, the years of pain and separation momentarily melting away. Jay held her close, his own eyes glistening with unshed tears.

"They would be so proud," Jay said softly, his voice steady despite the emotion behind it.

Mia nodded, her voice breaking. "I was so afraid you'd forgotten. I needed you here."
