CHAPTER SIXTY-FOUR

M I L L E R

After I finished the blood packs, Axel quickly went out then returned as quickly as well. Mukhang ibinalik niya lang sa storage ang tray at niligpit ang wala ng laman na blood packs.

Nang pumasok siya ay doon pa lang ako nagsimulang mangumusta sa kanya.

"Uh, how about you? Were you alright? Hindi ba't nasa kritikal ka rin na sitwasyon? Anong nangyari sa'yo pagkatapos? Paanong maayos ka n–"

Oh no! Did I ask too much? Mukhang sunod-sunod nga ang mga tanong ko.

Huminto na ako sa pagsasalita at tumikhim. "Uh-Uhm, 'yun," I uttered. I am giving him the chance to speak.

Pero nang tiningnan ko siya ay agad siyang umiwas sa akin. We were about to lock our gaze but he turned around as if he knew what was going to happen.

Uh, how strange is this guy?

Narinig ko rin ang mahina niyang pagtikhim, tapos ang dahan-dahan na pagtaas at baba ng kanyang balikat. Sa palagay ko he just breathed deep in and out. Then, he turned back at me and said, "The antidote was completed a week ago. So, I drank it."

This time ako naman ang huminga ng malalim. I am just so glad to hear that the poison is no longer in his system.

"Mabuti naman!" I exclaimed as I unconsciously grabbed his shoulder and was about to hug him when Axel froze out. "Ah, pasenya na. Nadala lang ako."

But instead of him pushing me away, Axel reached for me again and hugged me.

"It's fine," bulong niya.

Bigla tuloy uminit ang pagitan ng leeg at balikat ko nang maramdaman ko ang body temperature niya. I'm afraid that my ears are also red. I am too flustered that it's embarrassing. Nagulat lang ako dahil si Axel mismo ang nag-initiate na yakapin ako.

What's more surprising... and confusing is that his hug was so tight and genuine that I am starting to think that he really meant go hug me. At hindi lang niya ako basta-bastang niyakap dahil sa reflex ko kanina na yakapin siya.

I supposed to feel awkwardness from him, pero wala. Kumurba lang ng manipis ang kanyang labi bago siya tumalikod ulit.

"You should take a short nap and let your muscles restore their strength. You'll be able to move normally for a few hours," he told me as he tied the thick curtains in the window's corner.

See this? He sure is doing normal things like it has been a routine for him.

"Has it become your routine?" I wanted to ask him that. Kaso ang assuming ko naman kung iba ang magiging sagot niya sa inaasahan ko.

"Nasaan ang mga tao?" In the end, ito na lang ang binulalas ko. Well, I am equally curious to where everyone is.

"The housekeepers are resting, it's morning anyway. Ten are on a mission, while the others are doing their thing. Ah, the rookie alphas are also sleeping. Mateo gave them extreme training yesterday so they are all beaten to pulp."

Oh, man! Nakalimutan ko na umaga na pala. Of course mornings are quiet in this mansion.

"How about you? Why are you still up? You should rest as well," ani ko.

Ah, oo nga pala. Nasa kama niya ako. Natural lang na hindi siya makakatulog kung nandito pa rin ako.

Hindi ata narinig ni Axel ang tanong ko dahil hindi niya ako sinagot. He was about to enter the bathroom when he paused. "Where are you going?"

Napatingin ako sa kanya, then cluelessly replied, "I am going back to my room. Umaga na, you'll be using this bed." He looked at me with a confused expression. His wondering eyes made me panicked at agad akong nagpaliwanag ng maayos.
