Taming the Vampire

Miller and I had a blast last night. Well, it could also be a literal blast because, men! My darling never fails to satisfy me in bed. And figuratively, because he sure made me forget about work.

I know, business should be just a pastime. But a profession is still a profession, and business is business. It makes the world turn around because of the money it produces, and money is important, especially to humans,and we, the vampires, have to co-exist with them. It just so happens that it is the easiest way to do that in this new century. Because as far as I can remember, a hundred years ago, it was war that kept the world busy but that is no longer a trend so... I am here back in my office to do business.

"I've called Emily's manager, sir. I told him that I've covered up the issue. I just got to talk to the editor-in-chief of the magazine who published the issue online."

"Thanks, Michael. Big help."

The guy named Michael is just one of my few secretaries in the secretary department, which handles different departments. My entertainment company is quite busy with lots of fields. We have the actresses, bands, boy and girl groups, and we also have soloists. Of course, several models. I can't handle it all at once, so... Well, that's pretty much how I manage my life as a CEO.

As soon as Michael left the office, another person came in. It's Butter, my current head in the secretary department. Some refer to her as the secretary to the president, or something like that. Anyway, she's also a vampire that's why I chose her. An alpha vampire who prefers to work in an office. It's not like there's any war to fight again, but some of the alpha vampires joined the military or the police force to, you know, off some steam. It's their nature.

"Good morning, Butter. What do we have here?"

Butter did not reply in an instant, instead, she handed me her tablet.

"What's this?" I asked even though I have yet to read the headline.

"You got into another scandal again, sir. But this time, this one is actually real..."

Oh. No. What kind of bullsh*it is this all about again?

Human paparazzi really love to feast on me.

"Axellerate owner into a Gaycape: Cheating to his Lover with a Man in Midday," the headline says. "Uh... Oh... So, some paparazzi took a photo of us."

"Yes, sir."

Agh. Seriously? I just cleared an old scandal with Maxine, and now this? Kailan ba ako titigilan ng media? It's like I am a celebrity myself.

I was about to give Butter my order to clear this, yet, another misunderstanding when my cellphone rings. Itinaas ko ang kamay ko para hintayin niya ako at saka sinagot ang tawag.

"Good day, My Lady. What is it that I might be helpful with?"

"Axel?" the familiar voice of a woman responded.

"Yes, that is me, My Lady Supreme, ma'am."

"Oh, come on. It's just me, Maxine. Drop the formalities b-but... Uh... Okay, I called you because of the online article."

Ah. The Supreme already heard about the news. She did not call me when the old scandal resurfaced, but she called me as soon as she heard about this one.

"About that. This is just a misunderstanding, My Lady."

"What misunderstanding? Uh, wait..." Saglit na tumahimik ang kabilang linya at sa sandaling nagsalita ulit ang Supreme ay nagbago ang tono ng boses niya. From worried tone, her voice suddenly sound happier, "Oh! I got it. I got it. Ooh. I didn't know Miller would do that in midday but... Whoo! I guess you guys are still uhm, into each other."
