When Adrian finally stops the car in the car park behind the hospital, Rani quickly steps down and says: "I'll be waiting for you there."
Adrian kisses her gently on the nose and says: "I won't be long."
Rani smiles quietly and turns away, throwing one last glance at Adrian, who starts talking to Vassil.
There is a moment of dark suspicion in her eyes, but she suppresses it again and hurries towards the hospital door.
When Rani is finally out of sight, Adrian turns to Vassili and asks: "What do you know? About Alina, about Rani, about Nadja, in general?"
Vassili frowns and grimaces: "You're not trying to imply..."
Adrian shakes his head and says: "Alina wouldn't change sides without some persuasion. Or... a bribe. Her dependence on Lev Sergeyevich is too powerful for that."
"And you think I might have some sort of mixed suspicion about all this?" Vassili asks, raising an eyebrow.
Adrian shrugs and asks: "Am I wrong?"
Vassili clenches his fist and hisses: "Quite so, Neroni. I severed all ties with that traitor the minute I got into that car with Lily, Kronos, Irina, Nadja and Marc."
"All right, all right... but can you guess why now?" Adrian asks doubtfully.
"I don't know. But... if I had to say, it's possible that Lev, angry, came to Italy and... well, here they are."
Adrian thinks for a moment and bosses: "Then they could still be here."
Vassili shrugs and says: "If anyone should be here at all, maybe Ruslan. And if possible, Than..."
Adrian sighs softly and says: "We have to stay on guard."
"But first of all, tell Lily and Krole everything. We've kept too many secrets from them already." Vassili says reluctantly.
Adrian nods silently and runs his hand over his face and says: "First of all, let's get them safely back to the Ferecci mansion and keep an eye out that someone doesn't cut someone's throat there in the meantime."
Vassili nods quietly, "Shall we?"
Adrian pushes open the door and the men head for the lift.
When they finally reach the top, Adrian pulls the girl under his side and asks: "Did I keep you waiting too long?"
Rani shrugs indifferently and says: "Depends if you can keep up with me, don."
Adrian chuckles self-consciously and leads her into a small empty ward where everyone is already sitting quietly.
Scipio has changed into his black robes and stands at the left edge of the ward, his red-handled walking stick pressed firmly into the ground beneath his wrists, while Kronos and Lily sit in the centre of the ward, Kronos with his back to his brother, while Lily sits on his right side, her hand resting calmly on her stomach.
